So I was clambering through the brush at UBC Botanical Garden and I came across Melliodendron xylocarpum. Wow! The blooms were quite large - Styrax like and blushed in pink. If you like Styrax then you'd love this one. A small tree, the blooms appear along the branches like Styrax but are about 3 times the size +. I just had to mention here as it was a real standout for my little visit. Not sure where you'd buy one from but looks to be well worth the effort.
That's Hot!
I'll make the effort to procure and grow, if you make the effort to provide me some of that BC coastal climate.
That's a pretty one.
You are a mean man.
This one is real nice. I'm not sure of the zone though VV. It might be hardy in your zone.
Actually considering it's native range, it should be hardy to zone 6. It's found as high as 5,000 ft in Hunan and Guizhou, which are both interior mountainous provinces. Most other trees and shrubs found in similar areas at similar altitudes are hardy to zone 5 or 6. Now finding someone selling one, now that's another problem all together!
