CLOSED: Whose home was this?

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I found this "cocoon"? while raking this spring. It was attached to a twig by a flexible cord and the cocoon could sway with the wind. I would guess it was up in a tree. I found it under a red oak. It was open and the resident gone.

I've asked some of the locals and got some wierd answers (including a hummingbird nest). I have my own suspicions but would like to know for sure... Who lived here?

It is fairly large ~ about 2 inches long.

My guess is a large silk moth cocoon, maybe a Polyphemus moth.

I have seen the Polyphemus moths here. I guess it would be hard to say specifically on the cocoon resident. I had thought it was possibly the Luna moth which we also see alot of...
