Did anyone see the "First Flowers" program on NOVA Tuesday night? It was absolutely wonderful. They were following the history of the development of flowering plants. This is the cool part. They followed plant explorers to and through China a guess which plants they were looking for and finding. Lilies!!! Oh my G-d! They were so gorgeous. They profiled the history of the Regal Lilly. You should have seen the masses of them in the wild. I mean MASSES. Packed in cheek by jowl.
If you can get a copy from PBS do it.
Lilys on PBS
I saw part of it but the show was about half over when I stumbled across it. I hope they show it again.

In Iowa that NOVA program about Lilys will be broadcast again on Monday, May 12 at Noon. This is on the IPTV digital station.
you can buy the video at their shop. Also, they have whatshisname Hinkley exploring the mountains plant collecting right there on the site. They even have a "flying lily" which is a real lily that is epiphitic.
My husband made the mistake of flipping channels past this just as it started, lol! I got a glum "I suppose we're watching this, huh?" response out of him. This was a pretty neat program, loved the lilies.
