Hi Annette,

Could you show a closeup of the sepals(?)...

Some possibilities include

Merremia aegyptia - which has light colored seeds

Merremia quinata

and

Merremia davenportii

Hi Annette,

The new set of photos is helpful...

The plant is not Merremia aegyptia because the sepals are not hairy...It may be Merremia quinata...

The sepal photo here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/annette68_1210370390_340.jpg
shows what looks to be a calyx that has already had the corolla fall off > as there appears to be the style of the pistil with the stigma missing sticking out of the center of the calyx...

I hope the plant produces some seeds...

I will keep you updated on its progress:)

Ron just doing a google of merremias in Townsville and there is one called merremia quinquefolia (snakevine), are you familiar with this one. The plant looks close to what I have.

Hi Annette,

I had thought of Merremia quinquefolia
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/155435/
but since M.quinquefolia is native to the New World I thought it might be better to see if your plant matched the Australian natives first...it might be M.quinquefolia but I'd like to see a closeup of the cured seeds first...many of these Merremia can look very(!) similar and only examination of details will reveal the true identity...

Do the filaments look like they are completely straight or curved / bowed inwards and then proceed upward and outward away from the style(?)

Please post the seedpods and seeds whenever possible...

Will do Ron:)
