Incredible photo/shrub! How tall is the actual plant and how tall is the "sidewalk bridge?" It appears this shrub can be shaped. Finally, what is semi-evergreen? Does it retain some of it's leaves? Do you have any photos in winter - prior to spring growth? I would like to see its bare shape and see how it would fit into my garden. Thanks. I appreciate any infor you would like to share. There are soooooooooo many viburnums to choose from.

This Burkwood viburnum is every bit of 15' tall, and I think that opening is right at about 6' high. I haven't been by to photo that shrub for a couple years. I'll see if I can't get over there this weekend, and get some fresh shots.

Burkwood viburnum responds just fine to pruning. Just time your pruning for right after the spring bloom season, so that you don't remove the flower buds. Winter pruning is not a good choice.

Semi-evergreen means just what you think. The Burkwood viburnum retains quite a few of its leaves through the winter months here in zone 5b/6a. Where you are, it might just approach being evergreen.

There are viburnums for every occasion - and then some. Enjoy the journey, and remember: you can never have too many viburnums.

Hi VV,
That is easily the biggest Viburnum x burkwoodii that I've ever seen.
If you are going to concentrate on one genus, I guess that Viburnum is a good choice. Shape, flower, scent, berries, winter, spring and summer (don't know any autumn flowerers), evergreen, deciduous - just a great diverse genus.
Great photo, especially in flower, wow!

Thank you for adding the photo of your burkwood in bloom! Incredible! I purchased my own 5-gal plant today - and it has the nicest snowballs and fragrance. The nursery told me that it's blooming a month early? Is yours in bloom too? It is one of the main "bones" of my white garden bed - and perfect! I'll have to take some photos of my progress.

You are quite welcome.

Burkwood viburnums are not blooming here yet, but will be in a couple weeks if the warm weather persists. Mid-April is about normal for central KY.

We'll enjoy seeing pictures of your progress.
