Looking for Convolvulus mauritanicus seeds

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

This plant is supposed to be drought tolerant and also a ground cover. I am very interested in obtaining some seeds for trade or SASBE. It is my desire to try more heat tolerant cultivars of Morning Glories and I am particularly interested in mounding or creeping MGs.

I wonder if Beth was able to get any seeds from hers?

We had a very mild winter here and it's so hot already. I am afraid how scorching this summer is going to be! I need drought-tolerant and heat-tolerant plants in my yard. Global warming has reached my area. :-( I just love how this ground cover MG looks! I hope I can find some seeds or cuttings somewhere. This MG looks like it would love my yard!

The correct botanical name is actually Convolvulus sabatius and the darker flowered type is ssp.mauritanicus...although it can be found listed as either binomial...

Convolvulus sabatius (lighter blue) and ssp.mauritanicus (darker blue) is usually offered as a clonal plant and therefore self-infertile so seeds are very rarely found...

The species is native to North Africa and perhaps one of our MG contacts in that area might be able to acquire seeds from the native plants...what's up with that Martin(!)...

TTY,...

That would be great if Martin would be so kind as to check this out! I would really like to try this MG in my garden. I think that it would do well here in my zone 9b/10a! And it is just the kind of ground cover that I am looking for! :-)

RE: Convolvulus sabatius and the darker flowered type is ssp.mauritanicus

This plant has never produced seeds, but blooms frequently and propagates EASILY by sticking a cutting in the soil.
I would be glad to send cuttings but I don't have any seeds.

Oh Beth! I would love a cutting or two from you! Thank you so much for offering!!!!
