Making planting soil

Santa Barbara, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi,

Does anyone out there have any recipes for making a reasonably good planting soil. I have approximately 8-10 yards of mushroom compost left as well as about 1 yard of my own compost and plus sand. The mushroom mix has composted for approximately 6 months. I also have access to peat moss, ground redwood and organic as well as commerical fertilizers (time release or not). My favorite fertilizers are GroPower or any of the E. B. Stone Organics that can be added to the planting mix.

My soil is a sandy loam with some small rock in it, similar in size to float rock. It also has been amended with about 20 yards of mushroom compost to a depth of about 8 inches. It is still fast draining. I have approximately 383 plants to put in the ground, broken down as follows: 216 - 5gal. cans, 112 - 1gal. cans, 2 - 24" boxes, and 53 - 15gal. cans.

As you can guess my landscape budget is dangerously low at this point so thought I'd utilize the remaining materials available to me, since I still have to purchase mulching material, etc.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Barb
