Hi,
My potted OT is getting twisted and yellow new leaves. Some of the older leaves were formed without the waxy skin.Weird eh? Just curious if any of you have ever read about this and what the issue is.
Thank you,
Andy
Twisted and yellow
Andy; I don't know about the leaves getting twisted and yellow, could it be some types of sucking insects? I'm sure you've checked for any visible creeping a crawling creatures. But, I was watching my 'Muscadet' Oriental lily (newly added into the garden this spring), and the flower buds seem to fail to open up properly, they appear burn on the tips. The temp. is still mild here. So I'm wondering if these hybrids are cool-tolerance lilies, and the possibility of them not doing well in my Southern garden? I hope SteveFtworth will drop in and share some info. Since he's in a similiar zone as mine.
Kim
No sucking insects in this zone yet.
Lucky you, down south I think I've seen thrips, aphids are abundant, and the more harmful spidermites! Yike! I partrol my plants and look for those daily, prepare to get them before they are out of control.
Ah (light bulbs popping moments), do you get Japanese Beetles? They maybe the culprits (grubs -- lavaes) that are munching on your bulbs underground and causing the stem to wither and yellowing?
This is a potted lily. Which has spent most of its life indoors.

Oh well, I'll stop "shooting in the dark" lol. Wish you lucks on finding the causative agent of the ailment.
I'll follow your thread and observe.
Andrew,
I have never had much luck growing lilies inside. Not enough light and they don't get the cool night and warm days and bright sunshine that they need. And possible overwatering inside the house. It's just not the same.
Now that it is warmer I have been keeping it outside and bringing it in during rain. So lots of light. I sprayed the leaves with magnesium sulphate and the new leaves seemed to green up nicely. So whether they would have on their own...? Anyway, 'Madame Butterfly' is now showing it's buds, about ten at that!
