For a couple of days, there were these caterpillars on some black cherry and ash trees. Then they were gone. I didn't think to take a pic of the caterpillars, but here's what they leave on the leaves. I had one of the caterpillars in a closed container and it disappeared, leaving behind one of these things. What the heck are these things?
