Shrubs! :-)
Goldfinch Feista!
oh… haha.
I'll be quiet now.
:-D
LOL, I don't believe that for a minute! And would hope you never are quiet. :-)
That's a joke, right Marna?
mm hmmmmmmmmmmm
....lashed with spider silk.......sounds straight out of a fairy tale......hmmmm
I thought it was a joke. It's actually written that way on the Cornell site. Go figure.
can't you see a goldfinch with a needle in it's beak sewing the nest to the branches?
I was just trying to imagine how the goldfinch would transport the spider silk without getting it stuck all over its feathers and whatnot. What a mess!
spit. lots of bird spit.
:D
So does the goldfinch eat the spider before she steals the webbing? LOL! I think they only eat seeds...
I'm sure they eat plenty of small bugs.
I like thinking of Goldies being like something out of a fairytale. :-)
I think hummers also use spider webbing ....ALMOST - but not quite - makes me feel sorry for the spiders......interesting theory about the bird spit Mrs. Ed!!
It's that fairytale magic!
I'm pretty sure I've seen fairytale illustrations with goldfinches in the role of "horses" for the fairies......I'll check around.........
Very nice pics GM!
GM...congratulations on the new camera and those great pics!
I love how the yellow top and bottom of your feeder matches the goldfinches perfectly!
Wow! GM very nice!!! Is this the Olympus????
I just hung out a sock last week. I got it at KMart. It took the finches a day to figure out there was seed there, but they are finally eating it. Love the finches they are like sunshine with wings!
They really are!
Thanks! Nothing fancy, just a Kodak z612 but it has 12x optical zoom. I am taking baby steps with the camera stuff.
I always enjoy everyone's pics on the birdwatching forum. GM :)
Lovely pic!
