CLOSED: humming bird moth???

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

do the moths start out small and get larger during summer?... I took a shot of this yesterday and was wondering if it was a tiny humming bird moth

edit -- it was hovering like a humming bird moth

I know there are some types with wingspans as small as 1.25 inches. I think it is the clearwing family.

onewish1, that is a fly. Maybe in this genus Systoechus:

You're welcome - I wasn't quite awake when I posted earlier, it might be possible to get a better ID. But it's definitely a bee fly of some kind.
