Best time to move lilies?

When is the best time to move lilies? I have two kinds in a bed that will be ripped apart sometime this summer. Both plants are coming up now. Sorry I don't know the names of these two.

I'd pick fall, but if spring was a must, I'd move them disturbing as little of the soil around the bulbs as possible.

Moby should know since she and her buddies moved all of hers when she moved. She'll show up here soon I bet.

Thanks pirl and magnolialover. I don't have an exact deadline but I do need to completely empty that bed since the top layer of soil is going to be removed and a new wall is going to be built. Finally the soil level is going to be raised almost 2 ft. Nothing would survive that process!!!

If the changes will take place in summer I'd move them now and either replant them or hold them in pots.

Thanks Pirl I'll do that!

I agree, moved them now, while they're small and manageable.

Personally, I'd wait until the noses are up, or wait until they are. Take a good chunk of soil with them and they won't even know the difference.

Thanks Moby. Both of them are up about 2 to 3" right now.
