#20 More Lobelia and Fuchiso
You do such beautiful work, Tomtom. Every photo is a gem.
How long do the lobelia last for you?
Thank you Tomtom. All of your pictures are just beautiful, as are your compositions. Thanks so much for showing them to us!
Tom Tom, I really enjoy seeing all your beautiful flowers. The lobelia is probably my favorite but it is hard to choose, they are all lovely. Share more with us please. Laverne
Tomtom - Again, such gorgeous combinations and beautiful plantings. You are an inspiration.
I love Lobelia, but unfortunately it just won't stand the heat there and lasts a couple of months. Yours looks absolutely amazing. Thank-you for sharing.
Kat
Hello, TomTom, I am new with DG and came upon your thread. What an inspiration, for color combination and all matched with beautiful containers.
Befitting words elude me. However, comes to mind "I ask not for larger garden, but for finer seeds" Helene
Dear Tomtom,
I know I tell you the same thing every year, but it is so true: your containers brighten up winter for me. Please don't stop posting pictures!
Ursula
TomTom, in #20 the grass between the lobelias looks like what we call Japanese Forest Grass, or Hakonechloa macra. I had never thought of such a combination, but will definitely do so next summer. Yours is lovely. http://www.hort.wisc.edu/mastergardener/features/foliageplants/Hakonechloa/Hakonechloa.htm
Tomtom, I also am amazed by the beauty of your lobelia. I moved mine out of the shade for a day and it's dead. Yours is stunning!
Hi ,all,
thank you for your encouraging comments . I'm highly flattered.
Pirl,KatG,carrie,
My lobelia lasts about a month and a half unfortunately.
Still I love it soo much and I can't s help sowing it every autumn.
revclaus,
you're right. The Japanese for it is fuchiso, literally "wind-perceptive grass". The name seems to be derived from its elegantly swaying appearance in a gentle breeze.
I love and want to grow it on a large scale for the effect.
It is as beautiful in late autumn .

Please, what is the seeping plant in the last picture. Lobeliais stunning, never thought to seed it for fall. In spring, what you see is what you get. In fall one things Chrysantemum...
DonnaMack - check out previous threads by Tomtom. She does fantastic, unbelievable work with plants and the beauty is like taking mini vacations at DG.
Pirl,
Thank you. I will. Her work is glorious!
Donna
Simple perfection.
Thank you, Tomtom, for sharing your plant combinations and hints.
Wow, I just foundt his thread and, like everyone else, I am blown away by your beautiful containers Tom Tom. And, your English is excellent; I always thought you were an American living in Japan.
You grow so many plants that would not thrive in zone 9b in the southeast US although they may do well on the west coast. Do you have cool nights where you live? That seems to be the difference between the east coast and west coast zone 9 here. In much of the southeast our nights rarely cool down in the summer.
DonnaMack et al,
Thank you so much for your kindly words.

The seeping plant is Japanese forest grass. For details, please refer to Revcaus' ealier comment in this topic. #24 is todays image of the grass.

I appreciate your letting me know the defference between the east and west coasts in the US zone 9. My Osaka nights, too, rarely cool down in summer. There're quite a few problems with oversummering plants. That's why my favorite gardining is limited to spring.

Absolutely beautiful. I love your color combinations and plant choices. In number 27 is that a different kind of Dusty Miller at the bottom in the center?
TomTom, your containers are so beautiful and inspirational! How do you water? As in, a rain shower type watering from the top, or drip watering, or water the soil and avoid the foliage? Any advice for growing containers as beautiful as yours? Fertilizer? Thank you in advance...
Brenda
Always the best TomTom. You are such an inspiration.
Hi pirl, Thank you for always paying kindly attention to my post.
The silver leaf in #27 is Crossostephium chinense . It turns more silvery in late autumn.
This is what I had a few years ago.
bsavage,
I water the plants with a hose with a nozzle.
Watering is the heaviest burden in summer really ToT
