Hello all,
I was given a potted heather (Erica Quadrangularis) with a tag that only suggests I spray it with hairspray and use it for strawflowers indoors if it dries out. Eeek.. I certainly don't intend to do that. :-) I can't find it on this site and have no idea what its needs are. I'd like to plant it outside of course. Can anyone tell me about general requirements, growth habits (does it spread?) etc.

Heather (Erica Quadrangularis) question
Ericas in general need acid soil, sorry I don't have much info beyond that, but at least that gives you somewhere to start! I googled and found a few sites you might check out:
http://www.heathersociety.org.uk/cape_heaths.html (a little info on moisture requirements)
http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Ericaceae/Erica_quadrangularis.html (this one doesn't have much at all, but it does tell you which Sunset zones it does well in and to plant it in full sun)
Thanks for the reply. I do have acid soil (lots of happy lillies, camelias etc) but not much full sun spots left. I'll give it a try.
