Yep, the Green Scene is this weekend and I am going for the first time. I've have heard of it for so many years and for some reason or other, I've never been able to go.
Can someone give me any pointers for my first time....other than bring "lots" of money. lol
I was reading the website, and they say to bring your wagon. I have a large two seater wagon from my grandson and I don't know if I really want to drag that around all day. Should I or shouldn't I??? Do they have a place where you can park it for awhile?
On the website www.arboretum.fullerton.edu they have a list of the vendors and my mouth is just drooling. I don't know if I have anymore room for more flowers, but as a gardener, I will HAVE to buy something. lol
Any thoughts or tips will be very much appreciated.
Is anyone else from DG going?

Fullerton Arboretum - Green Scene
Hi Donna - I might be going on Sunday. Parking is the big problem so get there as early as possible. Bring the wagon or something to haul plants in --you will be buying a lot. Yes they do have a place to park your plants while you shop for more.
You can buy lunch there.
It is a lot of fun and lots to see. Make a list of what you want - they will have it for sure.
Have fun.
Yes, you definitely want to take your wagon!! You'll have a great time, but go also when they DON'T have Green Scene going on. When it's not such a hassle for parking and plant grabbing and enjoy the grounds and the pond without so many people. Ditto to "have fun".....
We are leaving here at 9am and will probably be there way before it opens to the public. We are hoping to get a decent parking space....thanks for that message Snow.
My friend has a little grocery carrier and we are taking that instead of the wagon. She says she doesn't plan on buying a lot....yea right! lol
Wish us luck and if I do buy anything, I'll let you all know. tee hee

Donna, I have a feeling you're going to be sorry on both counts.......but if you can get there early enough for a parking space, maybe, just maybe you can grab one of their wagons. I've gone on a regular day and parking was hard and getting a wagon was hard. I hope you find lots of good stuff. Last time I was there I found a 5 gal Mexican Weeping Bamboo for $20. I'd been wanting to replace since having to leave mine when we sold the house up in front, but was far too expensive everywhere that had it. Also a passiflora quadrangularis and some great salvias. This is from their plant shop, not from other vendors. I'm so sorry not to be there today!
So, how was it? What did you get? Nosey parkers want to know!
I was going to come and tell you and completely forgot. lol
We had a wonderful time and the weather couldn't have been better. A little overcast with occasional sun....but not hot at all. :-)
I surprised my self and only bought 2 small plants for myself. A real pretty Echiveria with wavy edges and an epiphyllum start called "Coral Dance" http://www.epigalleria.com/images/LCoral%20Dance.jpg
I did buy 3 plants for my sisters garden. 2 Alstroemerias (pinks) and a Salvia 'Snowhill'. I have this salvia and love it, so I thought it would be nice in her gardens too.
I found the prices about the same as the nurseries around here. Other than small starts of things, I thought everything was high priced. I almost bought a Protea, but they wanted $50. for the one I liked and they are very fussy about not being overwatered. Since they would be in my garden on a sprinkler system, I figured I didn't HAVE to have it right now. lol
My friend and I ran into a lot of people we knew from other garden clubs we've belonged too. It was like a garden club reunion. lol The small cart my friend brought worked out very well and it was nice not to have to pull a large wagon.
We got there about 9:30 and waited till it opened. We also were lucky in that we could park in a handicap space, as my friend is handicapped. We stayed for about 3 hours and then went and had a nice lunch at The Crab Cooker. yum yum.
Thanks for all the helpful tips, sure helped us out.

Donna, isn't that just the best kind of day?! What if we could do that every day? Glad you had a good time and we will miss you on Saturday.....
Hi Sherry, yes it was the best kind of day. I hope the weather for you and me will be pleasant next Sat. too. I sure am going to miss seeing all of you. Have an extra burger or hot dog for me, ok? lol
Not an extra burger, no, but I'll find something to have an extra helping of! Just for you.
Glad you had a nice time and came home guilt-free. :-)
Glad you had a nice time - i knew you would. I didn't go - got caught up watching Pope Benedict.
