CLOSED: YUCK! What kind of spider is this??

Goldsboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I found this nasty thing in my garage this morning. I killed it before taking this pic (just in case it was poisonous). Anybody know what this is or whether it's dangerous or not?

At that size, it's probably a female Southern House Spider, Kukulcania hibernalis. They're not dangerous, to people anyway. There are only a couple or three spiders that can really hurt people in the east, and even those aren't what I would call dangerous... to me, driving to the store is a lot scarier than any spiders we have. Hopefully, your traffic is better than ours here!

Thanks! I think you're right. I was starting to worry that it was a trapdoor spider. I'm horribly afraid of spiders so after I found that one, I almost fainted!
By the way, I live in a rural area of NC and drive mostly on two-lane country roads so the traffic really isn't an issue! I've dealt with my fair share of traffic though! :)
