Hello All!! Good to see some familiar faces over "here."
So who can help me out? I fell in love with the scent of Daphne Odora a couple of years ago...sadly - the cuttings didn't love me as much as I - them! :( This spring I've seen them at various nurseries...but I couldn't bring myself to auction a child on ebay to pay for them...LOL. I finally found them in an affordable size but there a few different varieties available. Does anyone know if their scents are similar or do they greatly differ one to the other? As I said the only one I'm familiar with is 'Odora' Thanks for any help with this!!!
Soooo...who can tell me about Daphnes...?
All the various daphnes smell very similar, I have grown three different varieties, the odora, 'Carol Mackie', and the cneorum. I have had pretty good luck with cuttings with Carol Mackie. It is a smaller leafed variety and semidecidous. I will take cuttings in July when the new growth is right for softwood cuttings. Look at this link in another Dave's Garden thread for some great information or ordering on daphnes.
