Price for eggs?

Luther, MI(Zone 4b)

That would take about 5 of us, so we'd better get them from Texas as the rest of us are scattered around the country and too far away from each other to reach them. Of course, there are the New Englanders, too.

BTW, I saw another one like the yellow one that opens and closes it's eyes. Hope Dave finds out how to do that and puts it on here, too.

Morning Granny! ALT characters won't work for me,
I've tried. I'm on a laptop. sigh. I could do this, though
/^_^/ notice the straight hair? LOL

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

How about pigtails? !^_^!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I still have not painted my egg sign but I'm supplying the team moms anyway. LOL The lady down the road is up to $1.50 now. I was talking to another neighbor and he says he wants to raise his to $1.75 or $2.00 per dozen and he said he is going to mention that to her. I told him my friends here are getting $3 plus. He about died!

On a funny note, he took eggs to a lady at work. Several days later, he was talking about his blue eggs. She told him that there were four in the last carton he'd brought her and she thought there was something wrong with them so she threw them away. LOL

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Oh my gosh! I've heard it all now.... I thought most people knew that not all eggs are brown or white. Actually, I'm not surprised. I hear everything at the farmers market.

I really hope that your friend raises his price to a good price, but remember they come to you or him for the most part. We have to include our fuel fees to bring them to the city. :)

Columbia, TN(Zone 7b)

LOL Love that Michelle! I bought some recently and in the box were two olive green ones. Paul's mom wondered if they tasted differently! ^_^

MollyD

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I thought you would like that Kathy! LOL Since he is taking them to work, I assume she was city folk and had never seen a blue egg. I found a website where they thought blue eggs were rare and unheard of.

Now I have to go find your carton link. I'm out!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

And did she try them and find out they don't? :)

For a long time I couldn't eat the blue eggs because the color reminded me so much of the robin's eggs I used to find when I was a little girl.....and I wouldn't have eaten them...ha, ha.

They are smaller than the brown or even white eggs, but do have the same taste. ;)

Chele, we posted at the same time. www.falconpac.com brenda@falpac.com or call 937-473-3252 Ask for Brenda....tell her I said hello :) I just saw her three weeks ago.

Found the phone number for Brenda. Will call her in a bit. I imagine with gas prices being what they are, shipping is cheaper! It costs me almost $30 to get to Cincinnati and back!

LOL She pitched them, no second thought. He laughed at her. I think he took her more after he found out she pitched them.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

And you're almost in Cincinnati. Yes, it probably would be cheaper to ship. We made 2 trips up to Springfield and then over to Covington, so picked up many cartons (should last a while). We saved almost $1000 in shipping just by picking them up. What beautiful country up that way by Troy, OH. I could live there ;) It reminds me a lot of Wisconsin.

:) Kathy

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm thinking you said Falcon is in Covington which is about 15 minutes from my other house. It's 43 miles door to door from one house to another and I drive a Suburban (had to have maximum buttage).

Hey, you could have delivered! It would have given me an excuse to meet you FINALLY. LOL

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I thought about that, ha ,ha.... but we were carrying the 16 foot trailer which is about 11 feet high with us. A little cumbersome, to say the least. Where is your other house? Covington is almost to the Indiana border.

Oh my gosh, I had to pull over and take a picture of Jesus in the water with the cross at the pond at Solid Rock Church on I75! The first time we went up, I had to laugh because here was this huge light on a huge statue of Jesus in the pond and then a block down the road, in all it's glory, Traders World, with all of it's neon palm trees, giraffes, elephants, etc. on the roofs of all the flea market buildings. There was something sort of sacreligious (sp?) about it.... ha, ah...

Chele, I'd love to meet you; it has been a long time coming. Hard to believe I've been here for 5 years!

I heard a song on the radio one morning, after driving the kids to school, that was so ridiculous that I sat in my car and listened. It was one of those "HUH?!" moments. I came in and googled it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0OxLXe5YnQ I've not seen Trader Joe's set up but Jungle Jims sounds about the same. I've gone to Jungle Jims most of my life as my Grandma and Aunt both lived in Fairfield. http://www.junglejims.com/

My other house is in Mt. Washington, right inside the 275 loop. You get off at Coney Island and go straight up the hill about a mile. I used to say I could spit to KY and throw a rock to Indiana. LOL

We do have to meet some day SOON! I bet you are busy June 7th and can't make the Ohio RU? :( I try not to notice how long I've been here! LOL

Freeman, SD

Lucky you people who live in populated areas and can charge big prices.
We tried charging a buck and a half a dozen. Ours are free range. We have 200 layers, but we have been undercut by the cage layers down the road who are selling for 1.25 so we had to drop ours to match or not sell any. We live in South Dakota and there is too much competition in our neighborhood and "free range" doesn't mean beans around here.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

That's too bad :(

chele, I bet you're thinking I'm talking about Covington, KY... I mean Covington, OH, it is north of Dayton. WEst of Troy, OH...East of Greenville, OH.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ack! Cerebral flatulence! I even looked at their website and it did not register. LOL They are 80 miles north of us, 1 hour and 37 minutes according to mapquest. Delivery would be cheaper!

I feel for you grgarden. There is only one person on my road with a sign but at least three of us selling eggs.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, better than 5 hrs and 37 minutes :)

Dallas, TX

OMG that is the tackiest thing Ive ever seen!!!
(no offense if anyone finds it ...ummmm... inspiring?)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

You're right Meg-e, that was tacky! Chele, it is Trader's World, not Trader Joe's. :)

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i tried to be inspired, but in the face it looked too much like Kenny Rogers...

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

It is not the same as driving down the road and seeing it. It is amazing and the sign next to it says "Solid Rock Church". Perhaps that would inspire you. :)

and...................Perhaps Jesus really looked like Kenny Rodgers ;).................

But I don't see the big block of butter.....I'm just not seeing that.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

butter? OK Kathy, i am TOTALLY missing something....

Happy Mother's Day! ;-)

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Yesterday was the first day we have gotten an egg from each of our four chickens. Made some good Mother's Day French Toast!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Must be something in the air. Hubby just made French Toast too. LOL

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

TF, the link that badseed posted "you tube" was entitled Big Butter Jesus...and the guy sings a song saying that that statue looks like a big block of butter that's been carved.

I love french toast but the syrup knocks me for a loop and I don't like sugar free :(

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

try Maple Syrup?

OK, didn't click on link, DUH!

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

So I brag about the chickens each laying an egg yesterday, and today just one egg total. Guess I need to have a talk with them!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

TF, born and raised in Massachusetts, I grew up sucking on Maple Syrup. Love it, can't eat it now......I am diabetic and it just sends me into sugar shock; any syrup does. And I don't eat anything with fake sugar (isn't that funny, I can't even think of what it's called right now)....

Jas, your eggs will come ;) the chickens are just trying to "acclimate you"....LOL

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

I keep reminding them they're not being cost productive, but I don't think they care! ^_^

Dallas, TX

I agree with you. The fake sugar stuff gives me a headache and a stomach ache!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Aspartame, that's what it is. I would rather eat sugar than that. Yes, gives me a bad headache and stomach ache too.
