Heat Wave in April !

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Any of you fellow So. Cal members amazed by how hot it was this weekend ?
It hit 95 ( or maybe even higher) here today.
Too much, too soon !

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

100 here...watering, watering, watering. I'm trying very hard to be philosophical about it. Maybe if I don't whine too much, I'll still get the May Grey and June Gloom. I'm counting on this to get some planting done.

Hey Mike, I was thinking of you all day yesterday when I heard what your temp. was in Long Beach. I was in the 90's here too and was just too darned hot to do anything much. I did work in the garage for awhile on Sat. I had both doors open and had a nice breeze coming through. I potted up 16 newly rooted mums into 1 gallon pots....yup, I joined the mum society this year. lol

This warm weather must be helping your flowers grow beautifully for the tour this year. :-)

Yep, 100 here, too. Thank goodness it was breezy. We did very little outside - I did my watering at 7am. DH is looking into swamp coolers for the house. I've got every door and window open now and enjoying the chilly breeze.

and just think Kathleen...in 2 weeks you'll have a windmill to better circulate the hot air !!!

And then we get to argue discuss where it goes. I want it by the greenhouse to power a fan. Or we think it might discourage the egrets that come to the pond. They are scaring our parrots something awful. It will be useful one way or t'other!

A windmill Kathleen? Where did I miss seeing this? Please do tell us what your getting.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Donna...you saw it...it used to be in my garden, but I'm giving it to Kathleen.

Mike has been kind enough to choose Breezedale as a home for a windmill that he can't use. It was a hazard in his garden - threatened to take off his head! DH had been looking at them and he loves anything mechanical. Mike is such a nice guy - he's bringing it to Weegy's so we can pick it up there.

All my flowers are wilting! NOT fun! I honestly didn't even feel like gardening this weekend...way too hot!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

At least the plumeria are loving the heat - and I bet Weegy is too!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh, that windmill...lol I bet John will love having fun with it.

It was so nice here today, not hot at all. I worked outside all day. :-)

It was beautiful here, too, Donna, though quite breezy. I wanted to take the birds out to the screened room, but the little one wouldn't have been able to stay on his perch! They don't like the wind - but they are spoiled, too. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 20 degrees cooler! Goofy weather!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Nice evening. I love to have all of the doors and windows open and listen to the birds and their evening songs, the day winding down. I'd love it more if the hot weather hadn't also brought me a cold. Yuck...

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

I love it in the evening too! This weekend I suffered during the day but the evening out in the patio was splendid..

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

I felt like I'd been cheated out of my spring gardening time, but it's cooled down now, thank goodness!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Yep! I can do so much more when it's a little cooler...

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It is supposed to go back up into the 90's again by this coming weekend. Not looking forward to that. Worked out in yard all day, taking advantage of the cooler weather. Can't play in the dirt when the temps. are so high.

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

I can't either. My roses love it, but I whither.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

LOL!!! I whither too! That's a great way of putting it...
