Just Starting for this Year

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I just started some of my MG seeds last weekend. I have them outside in a 8'X8' plastic greenhouse, so I wasn't really expecting anything, yet, since it still gets pretty cold at night. But, there is germination!!

I started some "Red Bearded, Red Flower" and "White Bearded" MG seeds from the same woman in Japan who had sent me the "Split White" MG seeds that Ron ID'ed as the White Hige I posted pictures of last year. I have had these seeds for over a year, and didn't grow any of these last year. So, I am really excited to see what I get!!

I'll be anxious to see pictures of the plants grown from the White Hige seeds I sent out to several DGers. If anyone else is interested, I still have seeds from my White Hige available.

Hi Deb! Beautiful clean, white bloom! Very nice. I have the dark pink hige (unknown) as well as a purple hige. Hard to believe they are a morning glory by their blooms, huh? Mine re-seeds and I get many nice volunteers to grow up my fence each year. I am already seeing some with blooms! Love them! Thanks for posting your photo and your generous offer!

Hi Deb,
I haven't started mine yet, but will, this is one of the ones along with Gypsy Bride that I should have already started.. These grow and bloom so slowly for me, I better get on it.

Mine I started from seed last year, probably around this time of year. It was slow to take off, it seemed like it was going to stay a few inches high with one set of leaves forever, but once it started growing, it grew fast. It had blooms by late July, early August. Again, slow to start flowering, one or two a day, but by Sept, was just covered with flowers constantly.

I'll be anxious to see pictures of yours.

Deb
