What kind of bug eats the centers of primrose flower petals? I have seen several of these around the place.

A hungry one? Boy that's weird looking... just a guess, some kind of beetle. Makes you wonder if that part of the flower tastes better or something.

Sure is decorative though...

Most have been on primroses, but I found a propeller plant also with this decoration.

I think it takes place at night as I could find no insects on partially eaten ones.

Nature is full of wonders, isn't it?

Maybe it was a relative of this guy.

Looks like whatever it was ate the flower before it bloomed. Maybe from the inside out?

Yesterday I found one that had 3 petals eaten. This morning the other two were eaten. I have no idea of what it could be, or how. I guess I could find a partially eaten one and go out at night to see what is finishing the job.

It certainly looks like a picky eater. (like the kid that eats the center of the PBJ sandwich and leaves the rest.)

Good analogy!
