What kind of bug eats the centers of primrose flower petals? I have seen several of these around the place.
CLOSED: Help needed.
A hungry one? Boy that's weird looking... just a guess, some kind of beetle. Makes you wonder if that part of the flower tastes better or something.
Sure is decorative though...
Most have been on primroses, but I found a propeller plant also with this decoration.
I think it takes place at night as I could find no insects on partially eaten ones.
Nature is full of wonders, isn't it?
Looks like whatever it was ate the flower before it bloomed. Maybe from the inside out?
Yesterday I found one that had 3 petals eaten. This morning the other two were eaten. I have no idea of what it could be, or how. I guess I could find a partially eaten one and go out at night to see what is finishing the job.
It certainly looks like a picky eater. (like the kid that eats the center of the PBJ sandwich and leaves the rest.)
