Problems with site?

Jackson, TN(Zone 7a)

Has anybody else had problems getting into this site? I seem to have it a lot. I get an error message that says the "Site is not responding" Was just wondering if it was just me!

I have never had a problem getting onto this site but sometimes it does load too slow and is timed out. This is usually due to my service or because my computer needs to have maintenance,

I haven't had any trouble getting in either but lately in the evening the site is very slow. It seems like it takes forever to get from forum to forum, or thread to thread. At these times I can go anywhere else with no problem so I know it is this site not me. I guess with so many members we are overloading it.

No trouble getting onto the site always
very quick.Evenings vary.

I have the identical problem that jcf has. Usually about midnight everything gets so slow and takes forever to get from one forum or thread to the next.I agree we may be overloading it.

Same here SnowH..and Melissa...then the withdrawal of not having that final nitecap of DG!

I think Dave may run the night-end reports between 11 pm and 12 midnight ET. I notice that if I'm still awake (and alert enough to notice), the refreshing of screens or moving from one thread to another slows down a bit around that time. And my newsletter is usually date stamped 11:52 CT.

So maybe that helps explain the slowdown ya'll are experiencing. Like Zany, the rest I chalk up to my 'puter and/or ISP. I know I'm reaching the maximum limits of my poor ole obsolete machine (less than 2 years old, but if it was a car, it'd be described as "high mileage" LOL)

Ditto to JCF - evenings and nights are very slow here, while other sites pop up very fast (well, as fast as 56K can do ya!).

Vols is right. From midnight EDT through the night I run various reports and backups, which really eat up the CPU cycles, significantly slowing things down.

The backups are the hardest things, and these are absolutely crucial in the event of a disaster. We need daily backups so we can recover folks' journals, trade information, forums, and so forth.

From midnight through 12:30am is probably the worst time to be on DG. I can adjust this, and maybe I should. Historically, 3am is the slowest hour. Perhaps I should go ahead and make the change.

Anyway, there's the explanation. We bought this new server 6 months ago and it's really performed beautifully for us and taken us through this period of significant growth. Within the next 6 months it may be time to consider a new server (but don't tell Trish!)

LOL, thanks, Dave. Sorry I haven't responded to this thread, I forgot to click on "watch this thread" and my short term memory is nonexistant. I am usually on this site from 11pm and 3am CST. The reports, etc. are more than likely the culprit. Thank you all for letting me know I was not alone. Now we all know for sure it is Dave's fault. LOL

DAVE, GO STAND IN THE CORNER!!!!!ROFLMBO
