It's a way of soil rooting.. where you lay the cutting containing a few nodes on the soil .. or in a slight indentation in the soil (Like a fallen log ) the bottom of the node will start forming roots and send them down into the soil.. and the top of the node will start forming branches.. I've seen some types of plants rooted this way.. where each node might both root down and branch up.. then you cut in between and get a few plants from a cutting.. often it will root from one node and branch up from another ..it gives maximum air , light.. and moisture to the cutting...
Way to Go.... Logees,

Brug Emergency!
I'm glad there are so many of you who have successfully rooted green cuttings! I never seem to have any luck with them. But you guys have given me some new & useful information to try in the future. Thanks very much! :) Superthrive - I'm definitely going to have to try that! And Jennifer - glad to hear Logee's is sending you another one! Great news!

Thanks Gordon - a much better description than I'd have come up with! I have a tendency to get WAY too wordy!
Here's a 2" piece of Cupid's Blush, taken at the green stage as an 8" cutting. It just kept withering, and I just kept cutting until I was left with this small piece. As you can see, it is doing fine. We just went through a big leaf drop, but it's still healthy and strong.
YAY!
I did put the bottom in a plastic baggie, not all the way sealed and put her in a east-facing window. I really did not think anything would happen so soon, but she has 2 little sprouts close to the top of the break! I don't want to wake anyone up so I am not going to take a picture at this moment, but I will post one tomorrow.
: )
Thanks guys!
Whoo-hoo! Good for you!
Brugs in general really have a will to live! Congratulations!

My replacement from Logees arrived on Friday in great condition. A+ For them!
should I say "oops... wrong picture" for you? LOL
OK, I just posted about 10 pictures, and somehow they all have the wrong number and have gotten mixed up with other pictures. I have no idea how to fix it. Grrrr. . . .
It looks like it is doing well.. you did good!
I have a program called "Photo Tags" that I use to download my pictures.. I am able to name them as I download so it is easier to organize.. I can also put them into different folders. I could have 50 pictures on the camera.. but of different events etc. I download all the flower ones.. might name spring garden 08.. then download the ones from work.. into a different folder and name " work party Mar 08.. then download the next group.. you can see large thumbnails of each picture and choose the ones you want to download.. it will erase from the card when finished if you choose that option. My pictures are soooo much more organized now! I absolutely hated having to go thorugh all those numbered pictures and give them names. Now I have spring garden 08 1, spring garden 08 2... etc. easy to find.
Tammie
Tammie, that is why I was so confused. The thumbnails were the correct pictures, but the actual file was different. I think what happened is that I have pictures from the old AND new cameras on the same card and the card was assigning them the same numbers. Who knows :P
Thanks for the suggestions : )
Jennifer
Most cameras now can be set to either start over with the numbers at 01 each time the card is cleared or you can continue the numbers from the last one.. look in your instructions. Once I learned that it mad it a lot easier. I still set my cameras that way but with this program.. it doesn't matter.
Tammie
It looks like it's on its way. Is the pale color due to the camera?
No, it is actually that light. It is vareigated and the light part is at the tip.
WOW! Way to go Jennifer, I like the variegation---congratulations!!!
