Word to the wise,Lavender! Don't believe those 'last day of frost' forecasts this year! Ours was March 24, a day which was marked on my calender. Then came the snowstorm a few days later. Also sleet and hail. nasty. very nasty!

yep. pretty much may 5 we are done done, I always push the envelope and that is where the trouble is! We are expecting some snow tomorrow possibly and I have already planted quite a few hardier things. Last year we were so warm this time I had already planted my peas by april 1 and even with that hard freeze 14 april they still did fine. This year I just got my peas in two days ago because our nights have been so cold. Thats ok though, we haven't had too much premature budding to get zapped!

I'm an 'envelope pusher',too. Makes me wonder why I live up north, really. Since Laurie joined this Northwest group, I believe she has learned a bit about envelope pushing as well! Beginning to throw caution completely to the wind, our Laurie! In case you aren't aware, she occasionally dons the Queen's crown around here, since she lives in England and has the most glorious historical property straight out of the British Gardening genre. We all "stamp and approve" her efforts. Wait until you see the summer photos of her place. I think the day will come when we will all arrive on her doorstep en masse, expecting the proverbial tour.
It's common knowlege that we should wait until May for tender things around here. But somehow that really seems way too late to me!!

I used to live in Yelm washington, moved in 98. I miss Washington, still the prettiest place in the US. To me anyway!

You probably wouldn't recognize yelm now. It's getting to be a regular town. Really populated with subdivisions. Sad. WAshington IS really a pretty place. Got to learn to overlook the crowds, though. I spend most time at home because I really have to want to go someplace to put up with the crowds and traffic.
However, this weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny! Hurray! Spring is hear! Stamped and approved!

Oh how I remember the traffic Jams on the interstate. I remember one that lasted eight hours just south of Federal Way.

Yes, it's hard to forget them. Now there is rarely a time of day when you are not at risk of getting into one of those jams. Used to be able to time the trips to be on the 'off hours' against rush hour,, but no more.
Personally, I'd rather be at Laurie's property! I'd even help with the weeding!

Ouuuuu, that was delicious to easedrop - thank you for the lovely lovely revue Pix - I am blushing, and smiling. Touching. All we need is for Tils Flying Purple Bus to materialize and I will bake cookies and make tea to welcome all of you here! A sleep-over, definately!

the weather has been so good yesterday and today that I have spent as much time outside as possible, and although the sun is still shining, I'm afraid I am not. I have wheelbarrowed muck until I ran out of push!!! I am whacked, ready for a cuppa and a nice biscuit. Sheesh.

I wish I could say that I pushed the envelope more - I think by contrast with some of my friends I am still a tad on the conservative side - I would say that Pix and Rach or the furtherest out there, but I am learning, toe in the water, possibly ankle deep - but definately without my wellies on.

Lavendar, I don't know lakenheath at all (but then there is much of England I don't know at all, so no surprise really). I'll have to look it up.

Carry on girls, don't let me interrupt -

Yes perhaps you wouldn't mind a visit from my Sis so she can ogle your lovely gardens. She is a recent garden fanatic, not a lifer like me. She regularly travels around England and has done several walking tours of England , France and a horseback riding tour of Wales. She and my other Sis just got back from Italy.

We must carry on while you are out taking more photos of your garden so we can drool accordingly!! (tapping foot, impatient as always!)
