I hope someone can help ID these. They are beautiful.
CLOSED: I found several very small Damsel flies yesterday.
I love the damsels too!
The first one is probably a Bluet, maybe a Familiar, Enallagma civile, many of the Bluets require in-hand identification because they are so similar.
The closest I could come was a Taiga Bluet, but too many doubts. So many look so much alike.
Thanks, fly_girl.
Could the first one be a Double Striped Bluet?
And the second a Powdered Dancer Bluet?
I found some pics that look exactly like both, thanks to your getting me in the ballpark.
I think you're right, that first one does look more like a Double Striped.
Still more checking.
Thanks.
I haven't found a blue Dancer that has black end segments on his abdomen, could it have been blue but showed up black in the picture?
In the first picture the tip is obscured behind a blade of grass, so I am not sure how it ends.
I did find pictures that showed the Powdered with a black tip.
I suppose blue could look black in the shade. This is a new camera and I haven't learned that much yet. That might be hard to test, but I will try.
