I just bought several smoke trees (small but still alive). You won't believe where I bought them: Aldi. You know the discount grocery chain? They were only $2.99 a piece. For that price I am happy to try them. If they die, well at least they weren't really expensive! I can't believe the things they have sometimes. They also had some wisteria.

Are these Cotinus obovatus or goggygria? The native Smoketree (obovatus) is tough to find in these parts, so if that's what they're selling, I'll have to check it out. I didn't even know that Aldi sold plants. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry they are selling the coggygria. It has been difficult for me to find any type of smoke tree. Aldi is known for selling random things sometimes!
