Gorgeous brug Mike. Mine aren't blooming, all waiting on bigger pots.
I hope DH plants some of my brugs in the ground this month. Lots easier
to take care of. My neighbor a few blocks up grows his in the ground here
in zone 7, amazing.

Happy Birthday Mike and welcome to the MGforum..,

Brugs...did someone say brugs? I just took mine outside this week and started fertilizing.

Jackie, you put yours in the ground? Will they stay there all winter? Mulch? I have four and am not sure what to do here in NM, since I've only grown them in CA..

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

A, my neighbors are in the ground and have been since we moved here in 02.
He cuts them all the way back after the first frost and covers them with over a foot of mulch. His resurface by the middle of April.
I don't have any in the ground but I want DH to plant a few in the ground this
spring. Free up some room in the g house and they grow larger, fuller and
bloom better in the ground.
You should be able to grow them in the ground too. Plant them on the south side
of your house and mulch well in late fall. The only worry......
If it gets down to 2 degrees here, the brugs won't come back.

That's when I would put an electric heating blanket over the mulch! LOL!

Mesilla Park, NM

I may take a cutting of these and put one in the ground. I'm not too sure of my zone yet..
or what I can push..lol

Thank you for the birthday wishes! :) The pic is of my three year old 'Xena' - a brug!

She's my baby - so to speak. :) Seems you never forget your first & then they seem to multiply after that! lol!

And Becky - Lady Jane is still VERY adorable! ;) She's got the cutest face!

Jackie

I grow mine in the ground as well. So far this year - 11 of 12 I left outside through the winter have come back! 'Jamaica Yellow' has yet to show any form of 'popping' through the ground yet. I still have high hopes though! :)

Gourd

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I only act as young as I feel! lol!

lol@electric heating blanket! Only you would do that Becky! But come to think of it - I might! :)

You guys are great & thanks again for the birthday wishes! You're only as old as you feel - so they say! :)

Did you get any of the seeds to germinate? Out of two that I tried, one has germinated so far! :-) Yep, I want a cutting of Dr. Seuss for sure in the Fall! :-) It's gorgeous!!!

(Mike) Batesville, AR

Becky

Well - don't jump for joy yet! Just went & looked! :) And yes - I woke them up! Six so far - with a possiblity of three more (just popping through!) The six are about 2-3 inches high already. I'll take a couple of pics tomorrow for you 'Aunt Becky!' :)
