Thanks, I did a search and did find Brecks had them. I must make a note to order some for fall planting. Or maybe you could remind me, I am so forgetfull lately. LOL
Spring is in the Air and the Dirt
These are new to my garden. I got the bulbs last year from the Conservatories Spring Bulb Show. Betsy saved them for me.......
I hope to get to this years "Market Day" at Cylburn and buy more. I also understand that the BIGGEST Day to buy all the bulbs that they dug up is called the "Herb Festival at Carroll park--Call the Conservatory for dates----410-396-0008.
I LOVED these! Now, mine are NOT as spectacular, as the bulbs sat dry in a box for a few months until I could go pick them up. I am sure in years to come, they will improve.....
These are called "Tahiti"....

Last one----------
Bought this tray of pansies at "Richardson Farms" today. Aren't they gorgeous????
Of course--I swapped all the 6-packs to have the colors I wanted.
The whole tray of 8 6-packs was $12.95. Each 6-cell pack was $2.50.
I figured the whole tray was a deal.....48 plants for $12.95! Also picked up 2lbs of their fresh Chicken Wings (theu grow their own chickens). They are cooking.....Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....I can smell them sitting here!
I always say--" I will NOT plant any Pansies!!!!". Then I go somewhere--and I totally lose my resolve......Who does NOT love Pansies??????
Ta--taaa, Gita
Gita, I wonder if the white Jonquil is "Cheerfulness" if it is it is very healthy. How many flowers to a stem?
And the Camellia if out of this world! Can't grow them up here : (
ladygardener--
I went out just now and counted---just because you asked.
There are between 5 and 7 blooms per stem.
Well, maybe not Cheerfulness it has 2 to 3 (I thought maybe they were growing close together) Can't see any in my catalog with the pale yellow near the center. If mine bloom later I'll get a picture.
claypa- this week my motto is if you can't beat em eat em. I sampled some common violets- kind of like cucumber-lettucey, with a hint of sweetness. But it looks pretty lunatic, me out there picking and eating the violet flowers.
Today I decided to move a young dogwood instead of trying to pot it for offering one of you guys- na na na. I have a corner where I tried to move three small self sown hollies last year but none survived. Building my understory.
This Hawera daff, grape hyacinths and Brunnera macrophylla (thx critter!) are pretty cute together!
Sally
I think that your dafs might be "Orange Ice Follies." I have a bunch.
I bought mine from Arizona Bulbs. I love that place. I bought them on ebay, but they are listed on Daves. They were the most beautiful daf bulbs that I have ever seen. They were HUGE. I have a few hundred of them. So beautiful.
The Ice Follies that you normally see are white with orange centers. These are all yellow with orange centers and very tall. I had a friend ask a couple of days ago, "Where did you get daffodils that tall?" They really are wonderful.
Does that all sound right?
Blessings on your garden,
Elf
Hi Elf!
You must be a drifts'of'daffodils fan like me. I'll go look at some Orange I F These are tall, here it is again.
Holly posted one earlier that looks a lot like an old one I have a million of from Moms .
Oh, did I tell you all, all my amaryllis that I had outside have lived thru?
Bedtime for this bonzo- see ya in the AM
Claypa, Love those violets I have purple, white and yellow dog tooth. Last year I took two huge clumps to a local plant swap and came home with a purple and white mix. Hope it comes back this year.
Sally very pretty mix. I see your forget me nots, in the corner too.
One of the things I am enjoying most is seeing new additions from last year returning. Two of the very small clematis I got from the clematis co-op are coming back and the peonies I brought over from the neighbors house are returning and the new astilbe I planted are coming up and also the hosta I put in last year and a few of the plants that I picked up at the swap sweet woodruff, the Brunnera macrophylla.
Sally at least one of the dogwoods I got from you is coming back. I always get so excited the first year my plants overwinter.
WOW,. kudrick!
I havbe never seen this one before!!!! Beautiful!
That one looks delicious, like a yummy dessert! Good shot, Gitagal
my kudrick, you have some neat unusual stuff.
I had a common ginger (woodland) but I haven't seen any sign yet, since it drying up in the drought.
Thanks Sally, I do like unusual plants. I have a lot of hardy palms and stuff. Check out my garden site, if you like: www.kudrick.com
then click on Maryann's Garden.
kudrick,
Your Website is beautiful!
Tell Maryanne I have had the same Onion Ring recipe for about 25 or 30 years. it was in our Newspaper. it is THE BEST! She might have gotten it the same way...
Being a Bawlmorean--sometimes I sprinkle the fried rings with a touch of Old Bay. Tastes good!
Are you going on the Longwood Gardens trip on may 17th? That has been in the works for a long while. Sally is going, I am going and Shirley is going too. We are car-pooling. A good way to meet some fellow DG'ers.
We are so close.....If you know where Perry Hall High School is--I am only 4 houses past it on the same side of the road. Come on by some day!
Gita
Kudrick, What wonderful plants. I will be checking out your site later heading out to the garden soon.
