Lets honour all our other spring treasures...

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

Your Ixia is indeed very pretty, tracie!

I love your Glory in the snow Colquhoun! The white in the heart makes the blue so vibrant!

Is it not possible to grow Trilliums in your zone, Marie ?

I have something with drooping flowers, I cannot resist them. Mine is still a very young plant and just starting off to flower; Uvularia grandiflora.

I think we are way too hot for the trillium. Love that Uvularia grandiflora.

Champaign, IL(Zone 5b)

I would think moisture might be a problem too.. but I learned long ago to never assume anything about AZ weather.. had a freind that lived in AZ that used to get snow in oddest times of the year :) Funny how we tend to think of a state by it main features and ignore its interesting little exceptions. Sorry Trillium won't grow for you.. its wonderfull.. however if it makes you feel better.. we have the prefect climate and I can't get it to grow to save my life.

LOL!
Lots of Arizona gets snow. I happen to live in the low Desert. You are correct about moisture being a problem and the 120 degree heat. I have managed to have a hosta come back but it is in a microclimate and it still typically disappears ion the summer.

Have we enjoyed Erythronium yet here? I just love it. Here's a clump that's
happily expanding every year.

Claytonia virginica - Spring Beauty (7"tall).
From small edible bulb (bland, taste like chestnuts).

Oh I love Erythronium Tammy, but I'm not that lucky with them, planted two types last autumn, but they did very poorly. Perhaps I'll have to exercise patience with them!

That's a lovely peach-pink colour on your NOID Marie!

Never seen a Claytonia virginica, jmorth. Thanks for showing us!

I thought of starting a second thread, this one is getting a little long and spring is only one month going...
