Cabrillo College 2008 plant sale

It's getting to be that time again...Cabrillo's Mother's Day weekend plant sale. I won't be able to get away this year to go..sob...but still anxious for them to post the inventory list to see what salvias I won't be there to get. I suppose that I shouldn't torture myself. We had such a great time last year and got so many wonderful salvias. I envy those of you close enough to just go for the day. Leaving here for a couple of days is like packing for an expedition and too many animals, too many plants.

I'm hoping to go this year...although since I don't want to take the day off on Friday and pay for a membership, I won't make it until the 2nd day so chances are anything rare and interesting would be gone. So I'll have to wait and see their plant list...if there are enough on there that I want then I'll probably go and hope that at least a few of the ones I want are still there.

The inventory list is up for the 2008 Plant Sale, but there's a problem accessing the salvia list....grrrrr! Contacted admin....I can't wait to see if I'll have to figure out a way to go!

Salvia list is up. There are about 10 that I would get, but fortunately/ unfortunately not enough to make the trip worthwhile. Oh well.....

I'll have to check out the list this weekend and see if I want to go or not. I still have my same concern about driving all the way down there only to find out that all the ones I wanted disappeared on Friday night at the members sale but if there are enough that I want then I may give it a shot anyway.

That's why I went on Friday last year...couldn't stand the thought of the ones I wanted being gone on Saturday. You know the truth is that I was even hyperventilating over the ones I wanted being grabbed by the people in front of me in the line on Friday...LOL....I had a lot invested in the trip up there and I REALLY wanted those salvias! I would still go again even though there aren't as many that I'd get this time, but getting away and the money make it a no go. I see it as a mini- vacation. Anywhere north of Santa Barbara is a joy to me.

I always have that feeling with plant sales--I'm at the point now where I always have a specific few plants at each one that I MUST have and I'm on a mission to find those before anyone else grabs them. Right now I'm planning my trip to the UC Santa Cruz arboretum sale on the 19th, trying to figure out what time to leave my house so that I'm there before the gates open and nobody snatches my 3 must have plants before I get to them!

Yeaah...wouldn't you think they'd let us put a reserve on them? I'm sure nobody else wants them as badly as we do....

Of course not! LOL
