Back from the Skagit Valley

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Okay, I know this is a little off lily topic, but I just hope you all will forgive me. Just got back from the Northwest and wanted to share some green ;)

This one was from above Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle.

Some more blooming beauties.

Okay, those of you unfamiliar, this is in the Skagit Valley, just outside of LaConnor, Washington. There is an annual tulip festival there where people come to view the fields, acres and acres of tulips and daffodils in bloom. Too early for tulips, but the daffs were a welcome sight.

The Skagit Valley is about an hour and a half north of Seattle.

Some other plants were blooming too, and although I am not sure what they were, I didn't much care :) I sure needed that spring air and all of that color!

Well I think this is some sort of blooming vinca vine. It was gorgeous.

One thing I did notice in my travels is that with so many blooming trees, there weren't nearly enough magnolias (smiling). I didn't even get to photograph one.

Just enough green to enrich the spirit. I just love ferns that love living where there are, just off of the Puget Sound, one of the most delightful places on earth, at least my soul thinks so ;)

Anything interesting at B&D?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I was unable to visit due to circumstances beyond our control. I'd rather go at bloom time some year anyway ;).

Still, there was plenty to see and do and I still came home with B&D lily bulbs, so that was great.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks guys. It's nice to be back...now all I need is a nice long nap.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Didn't know you were gone, Mags. Sounds like you had a very nice time.

We toured the tulips when in full bloom there several yrs. ago. Have pictures that I took some where?
Would go again in a heart beat. A very welcome relief to our blah ending winters.

It was a very short trip, but just long enough to smell the sea air and the smell and see sights of spring.

Hoping spring settles in here shortly.

LOL. Tracey when I read your post I thought you said "I abhor tulip time". I need more coffee.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

You do need more coffee. Aren't those tulip photos wonderful?
