bst roting products

I have some gel2root. I did a Google search and see many gels for just dipping cuttings and not as the rooting medium itself.

Which works best?

I don't want to spend a lot of money. I have many nice shrubs I could makes babies from!

Hi Steve, I'm sure you will get many replies. I think that what makes a good rooting medium is the ability to stay moist without getting waterlogged. Also, the medium should be free of harmful fungus or insects.

I have used Vermiculite since 1953! I see no reason to change. A bag that lasts a season for me costs abt $4 at Lowes. It's found near the Pearlite.

I look forward to hearing the other favorites (and methods).

SO you just stick cut off softwood pieces in wet vermiculite? And wait? Just now I bent several new softwood branches down on top of a pot of soil and secured them.

I believe Rootone and other powders work great and I use those with fresh moisture control potting soil.
I root about 600 coleus cuttings (Give or take say 500,LOL) every spring.
