question for Ron but anyone with similar experiance

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

i have grown out a vine for Ron that turned out to be a white cypress vine. ever flower is perfect white. no color variations or anything.

the question is i have hand pollanted it last week i set it out as its getting warmer and bees visited it and no seeds. none. the flowers just die off and nothing.

now i know i may be hand pollinating wrong but i figured the bees knew what they were doing right.

so why isnt it producing seeds? heres its pic

Marie - Can you show a closeup of the exact part where any flowers fell off(?)...
I'd like to see if the entire pedicel fell off or if any seedpods may be developing slowly...

Hi Marie - The photos show what would happen if the fertilization did not 'take'...it may be that the plants are just not ready yet for some reason...

Are you being very careful not to damage any part of the pistil(?)...
Is the pollen obviously very fluffy looking on the anthers like in the photo here

Make certain that the plants have alot of water the day before hand pollinating to ensure that the pollen fluffs up...sometimes the anthers do not release the pollen as soon as the flower opens, but only after several hours and best done none in direct strong sunlight...

I suggest using the anthers from a separate flower onto the stigma of a flower that you otherwise do not remove anything from and see what happens...

Try hand pollinating some and allowing the bees to pollinate others and see if there is a different result...

well the other one sloteri is prodcuing a seed pod(one seed pod so far) due to hand pollination and actually those three white dead flowers were the ones this weekend who had bees on them. i put it out by the winter honeysuckle where all the bees were at and thought mother nature would do it for me.

for some reason this one isnt producing seeds. by nature or hand pollination. dont know but will keep trying. and definatly!!!! will wait a few hours on next flower to try that. as it is still flowering but back inside due to cold weather coming in.

will keep trying though.

okay so far all the flowers have been white. and it looks like two might make seeds on this flower set dont last week. will patiently wait and see and keep fingers crossed.
