CLOSED: Suprise lilies/naked ladies

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

Hi There,
Newbie trader here on Daves!! However, I've done a hundred trades on gweb, so I'm not new to trading. I have probably 2, maybe more smaller flat rate boxes of naked ladies to dig up and trade off. I don't have my haves and wants pages filled out here yet as it would take a long, long time, but I am trying. I do have an up to date list on the gardenweb though, if anyone would like to see it.

I love clematis, daylilies, heucheras, hostas, echinacea and grasses. All need to be hardy to zone 6.

If I messed anything up, or did anything wrong, feel free to let me know so I can learn all the ins and outs here.

These bulbs were going for like $7 for 2 or 3 on ebay last week, which I think is unreal because I have traded so many off. If anyone needs a real good start of these, please let me know what you have to trade.

Hi Joyce,
Would love to get some NL from you, I'm nyvoices99 on GW, I'm very much into Daylilies & will have some I can trade you, when the weather is better here.
Do you leave your NL's in the ground all winter?
;)Anita

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

Hi Anita,
I've seen your name a million times! On garden web, I go by the name of Joyceann, not a big difference, but they wouldn't let me have that one here! Do you have any ideas of what daylilies you have for trade? I know it's an awful time of year to try to figure that one out. Mine are just poking their little heads out now!

The naked ladies stay in the ground year round. They are supposed to go dormant. About the time crocus are blooming, you will see the greens come up and get to be right about 1 ft. tall. Do Not cut them down, they will die down and then in the fall SUPRISE!! up comes a single stalk with pretty pink blooms. No fuss, no mess, super easy!

Hi Joyce !!
Good to meet you !! I am a newbie here too, and practically a newbie in the gardening aspect also. I have started a "have's list", but don't have that many. I would love to have these naked ladies, and will understand if you would like to wait for a better offer. Would you consider money ect, instead of a trade? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Becky

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

Hi Joyce,
Very nice list on GW you have! My Daylilies have not started the journey back yet, I do have some that I lined out last year, only 1 of them has been traded out in 08, let me see if the snow is off that bed in the next few days. I should be up in the 40's all this week, they should start poking up soon. Would love to do a larger trade with you, if your interested, you have some Daylilies I would love to have. You also have some other things I would love to have;)

Are the Suprise Lilies the same as the Amaryllis Belladonna?
:)Anita

Hi There,

Becky, I actually prefer trading only right now. I'm trying to build up my collections, however, I will save your name and get back to you if I still have some left over after the trading is done.

Anita,
I love, love, love big trades. Dmail me when you have a moment and well chat!

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

Haven't heard anything on all the ones I've ordered either. Grrr

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

Wazoo? I know I'm getting sick of listing them ONE at a time, but on the bright side, I'm up to my Spacecoast's listed:) Only a few hundred left to go!
DL buying partner, now why have I never thought of such a thing?
Joyce, will get back to your GW list soon;)Anita

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

Barb and I agree on daylilies and then we split the cost and the shipping, that way we both get one fan of each. We got the new intro "Pink Stripes" this year that way. Why, watcha got in mind? HMMMMM
Joyce

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

joyce is the money man of our outfit and has come in handy for me several times. lol

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

Well, nothing right now, as Barb knows,I had a financial disaster happen & cleaned out my bank account to help my nephew, so I have to watch every penny I spend, but that sounds like a great way to get a great deal, will keep it in mind. :)Anita

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

but new york is gonna come back strong. by the way joyce, did we get those lycoris traded? lol.

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

OMG Barb,
I am in the middle of flood central. We are having continuous rains since this morning again!!! Every hour or so we have to go into the basement and suck up water. This is supposed to last until tomorrow evening!! I have never ever seen this much water sitting around. We only have about 2 feet to go before it starts to enter the garage. I am so frustrated.

There is no walking in the back beds. Here is the picture from a week and a half ago. There are flash flood watches out all over here in Illinois. My husband called me on his way to work and told me the roads to work are flooded over and tomorrow morning I'm going to have to take the long way around and go on the interstate! Check out part of my backyard in the pic :(

oh joyce, i am so sorry. i know it's scary to have that much water. like you have time but would digging a trench help to clear out any of that water? looks like it's all in your yard?

Corning, NY(Zone 5a)

Oh Joyce, I feel your pain, I hope it drains fast for you, I live almost on top of a hill & I get standing water in my yard, have 2 sumppump's sp? running 24/7 in the basement.
I need to dig up about 200 Daylilies & fill the bed in & replant, as that bed was a temporary spot,I should have NEVER planted anything in it, till it was ready, It just fills with water, I can hardly wait to see how many truck loads of soil I'm going to need, it is about 100' long by 8' wide & needs to go up about 10". DH & I talked about it yesterday, makes me so sad to see all my babies under water. Just have to wait for the weather to break here. I wish the rain would stop here too.

Yes barb, I sure will, just going to take time, I got a letter from the court, that they are going to keep 3% of it!! Dog bite my %#^, I thought we would get 100% back, guess not, they get you coming & going.
Had to shell out more, so he could get clothes to start a new job, as he lost his. I told him, when it comes time to bring all my plants up & out for the summer, he WILL be here to help!

Well, I better go pot up my Phlox. ;o)Anita

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i have been underwater the last few years as i live at the bottom of a small hill. i have now dug trenches here and there to the ditch and this year my walkway not once was under water. still work to go but with raised beds and the trenches at least it worked this year.

hope both your water situations drains soon.

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

It stopped raining today!! Yee haw!
Joyce

No rain til Thursday now!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

so glad you got a break. last summer it was like that almost the whole summer. just when the yard was drying out enough to mow the rain would come again.

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

Crapper!!
Newest weather forecast-flooding tomorrow night until Thursday evening. Possible 2-5 more inches!! What the heck else???
I'm depressed.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i know how you feel joyce. just go on breathing and eventually it will pass. there is nothing you can do so just let it go. but it may not be as bad as you think right now. if you lose some plants there will be lots of folks to help you out. i think gardeners have to develop that attitude. we do what we can do. and if we have to, we do it again. it'll be o.k.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Hi Joyce welcome to Daves sorry Mother Nature is wetting on you so much. We are in no imment danger here at the house on our river. The kids went to the camp which is surrounded by the Miss river to more all the stuff up to higher groung. Water at crest tomorrow should be 1 inch inside the camp.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

really cindy. yall are getting that much rain. what part on the miss.? i mean which city?

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

It is on the La side at the Miss river at Vicksburg. The island where our camp sits is made by the Miss River surrounding it. So when The Miss rises it floods the island. It only happens like one in ten years and we have flood insurance on it. There are about 30 members so it's not just on us to clean it up. Most of the members(millionaires) have built there own condos that are off the ground like our house is on the Ouachita. We have not built separate lodgings and we stay in the community bunkhouse. That is what is on the ground and will go under. We do not flood from our rainfall. The rains in the states that flow off into the rivers north of us that flood us here at home and at the camp.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

you have a camp outside vicksburg on the la. side? how cool. and so you are rubbing elbows with the millionaires. reckon what they do for a living? lol.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Most have made their money themselves owning their businesses. Because they all came from where we are most are great guys to be around . We have 5 doctors. Some were born to the money. I am the only female bowhunter so most of bow season I am the only woman there with maybe 20 guys. As to hunting they treat me just as they would a guy and I love that. I go to bed early so they can socialize without having to watch their language. My husband has been a member there for 28 years so I have seen these families marry and have new babies.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

wonders never cease. i used to bow hunt myself. how many robin hoods do you have under your belt?

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Do you mean kills? about 12 with my bow and we eat ever drop. Much healthier for you.

This was an unwanted visitor last year with me just armed with a pointed stick. He was about 25 yards away. I am usually pretty high up in a tree but my son just carved out a low place by cutting limbs on a cedar tree about 12 ft up. I was really hidden but did not like this situation at all. He stayed till almost dark with me making all kinds of noises. Not afraid of me one bit. They are protected by law.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

a "robin hood" is when you shoot one arrow on top of another where it actually splits the first arrow?

did you see that bear in la.? i would have loved that. i have never seen a bear in the wild.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Yes in La at our camp on the Island. Sorry don't know bow lingo no robin hoods for me I practice with broad head carbon arrow when you hit that dead on it shatters. My son has one that he has hanging across his horns.

Centralia, IL(Zone 6a)

No rain since this morning! I am digging tomorrow. Supposed to be 62 and no more rain until Tuesday!! Woo Hoo. I am so happy.
Joyce
