Wanna Play a Game??.from "A" to "Z"

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oh, I should've waited for "T" -- I've got cute pics of 'Tiger Trail' and 'Trinket Terrific'! I'd better search ahead... nope, not a single "Ultra Violet * " AV in the folder of photos! I'm going to have to wait for "V" or "W"...

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Jill..........post those terrific T's anyways :)
I just wanted to share Tropical Twister as she's a special gift from Nance :)
I posted her a little early :)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I missed out on the whole thing.............great idea...........no one posted an R.............let me look through my pictures if i can find one...........

nah..........I don't have my pictures in any order to find one..............since we missed R, I am resorting to First Class (sorry Critter)

*******My favorite R's are the Rainbow series............this plant won best in show at our show......Rainbow Quiet Riot
I can't post two pictures at once

This message was edited Mar 20, 2008 7:07 PM I can't remember how to copy from First Class the picture of Quiet riot............sorry gals........keep playing

Kim posted an "R!"

But that's a lovely photo.

There's lots of fun "R's" because of all of Rob's varieties. I love the way this shot of 'Rob's Love Bite' shows off the deep color of the bloom...

Here's 'Tiger Trail'. I still have this one, and it's bigger now -- but hasn't bloomed for a while. Probably needs repotting!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Totally different foliage (mosaic), but a rather similar bloom on 'Trinket Terrific':

Since Kim & I both posted "T" plants, I think we're now officially all caught up and going on to "U" now...

Anybody have one of those remarkable "Ultra Violet" series AVs?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I don't..........and my pictures are too messed up to look for a particular plant

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Dang..I don't grow any Ultra Violets.Hopefully someone does.I wonder if there are any other gessies that begin with U??This could be a challenge!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I Have a U!!! Unpredictable Helen.Shes an episcia.Just saw her tag..I will be back in a sec with my pic : )

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Ooh, I'll bet that's a pretty one! I've got a struggling little E. 'Unpredictable Valley' under a dome... it's not doing badly, it's just not really taking off...

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

U--Unpredictable Helen--Oh what a lousy pic..lol Episcias are definitely NOT easy for me : (

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

What does Unpredictable Valley look like critter?..Does it look alot like helen?

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm in THAT boat with you Nancy...........yanking on the other oar as we kill episcia together. I would DIE if you could see what mine look like. Yours looks like a Cadillac compared to mine *lol*

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Kim you are too sweet..LOL..yanking on the other oar..as we go down together...You crack me up!!Thats about right though.Geeze..I sure don't know why episcias don't like us though...hee hee

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Looks like I've been bad about getting photos of my Episcias... will have to start doing better on that! I've been repotting lately, so hopefully I'll have plants that are a little more photo-worthy soon.

But yes, 'Unpredictable Valley' does look a lot like 'Unpredictable Helen' -- quite dainty, really, with a lot of pink and cream in the leaf.

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I think they are some of the prettier episiias critter...maybe I'm saying that because it seem to be the only one I have that actually seems to like me ....

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Mine is still alive... but I'd say it barely tolerates me, LOL. It really is a pretty one, though. I like the variation in Episcia foliage -- there's such a range of colors and patterns, and some are quite striking!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I agree critter : )
Well looks like we are down to the final 5 letters (V,W,X.Y, and Z).Hope someone has plants to match each of those letters. They are some tough ones.....

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Does the "V" have to be for the first word in the name?

'Yesterday's Valentine'

I have some newer photos of this one, but they seem to be filed elsewhere, LOL.

Just for fun, check out Valentine's Trail
http://www.avsa.org/Photographs.asp?Photos=V

as hard as V is you can count anything, Critter and that is a great looking plant

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Ooh, and I am totally loving 'Vagabond' on that page, also!

"X" is going to be tougher than "W"... there's only 1 registered in First Class...

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

But she is a pretty one starting with X............

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Yesterdays Valentine and Valentin's Trail are both yummy.oooo so is Vagabond.
Now to take care of W,X.Y,and Z..should be fun huh??LOL

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Nobody else has a "W" photo?

Somebody has to post one... we're supposed to be taking turns!

My 'Winnie the Pooh' never did bloom, I don't think... it just suckered like crazy! I know I sent out a lot of little plantlets from those suckers... Did anybody ever get one to bloom?

Thumbnail by critterologist
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

How cute, Critter............is Winnie the Pooh an av? or chimera? I have to look it up.....they look so healthy. Maybe they aren't old enough yet to bloom.

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

oooo I have Wintermint..a strep..not blooming now tho but I think I have a pic of the bloom somewhere.I will have to go look for it.....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Winnie the Pooh is precious and what a pretty bloom

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Mine refused to bloom... put all its energy into producing suckers... and suckers... and suckers! If I ever try this one again, I think I'll put it in a terrarium... I noticed the little plantlets didn't sucker while they were domed.

The bloom is lovely! Actually, the leaves alone are pretty cool also... it's the only AV I've ever had with "clackamas" foliage.

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Wintermint..Bad pic but its all I could find : (

Thumbnail by cedarnest
Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

winnie the pooh is adorable!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

A little off topic, but that bloom of 'Wintermint' reminds me of my Very First Bloom Just Today !!! on the lovely little 'Kitten Face' strep that Mrs. Bonnie shared with me! She's been promised to my MIL... oddly enough, I think she'll "lose" a bit of leaf before I hand her over... oops!

Thumbnail by critterologist
Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Oh critter! Kitten Face looks like it has the softest pink coloring.Oh now that is PRETTY!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

It does! It doesn't show off as well in that photo as in person, but it's the loveliest pale pink, accented with just a touch of glowing violet. I love it!

As I restock my shelves this year, I think I need to leave lots of room for streps...

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Guess what ladies?
At my first AV meeting in February, the ladies insisted on sharing AV leaves with me as I didn't grow AV's at the time.
One of the leaves was Winnie The Pooh!
The poor little leaf was a little limp so I soaked it in water while I planted the other leaves.
I checked on Winnie yesterday morning and she's has TINY TINY babies coming up!
I'm SO excited! I don't mind if she suckers (actually I hope she does) as the more suckers I have, the more babies to share :)
I LOVE playing so I won't mind removing suckers I'm sure :)
For that bloom, I'll deal with suckers any day.
All of the suckers that I was given at the meeting have rooted too :)
I'm not sure but I think AV's are going to like me more than streps do *lol*

Kim

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I would've been happy to grow mine as a suckering, multi-crowned plant, Kim... but it suckered so much it never got close to blooming. I'm hoping it's just a "strain" that I had and that yours will be different... If it shows a tendency to sucker that badly, though, try one of the babies in a terrarium environment and see how that works out.

Xanadu-- If I can't post this let me know. It is from the AVS

That's the same photo that AVSA contributed to First Class.. and it's fine to post those (with credit), just not to use them commercially. :-)

It's a beauty, isn't it?

Let's see if my DG thingy lets more of the bloom show...

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

for "Y" I've got 'Yesterday's Sapphire Trail', which I once bought for MsC... It was a teeny plantlet, so maybe somebody has a prettier photo to share...
