I STARTED GARDENING...........

Salt Point, NY(Zone 5a)

Of course not! I was looking for an excuse to get one. (or 2)

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Evaluation of a serious manor: If beer contained 3% Nitrogen and urine contained 14% would it not make sense to strain all beer through one's kidneys first and then put it on the compost piles?

Louisville, KY

AAAHA HA HAAAAH!!! are you kidding?
sounds like a delicious way to make compost to me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That is the other (preferred) alternative. I like to write my name while doing it. Crossing the 'T' can make a mess though.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Have you seen Ashley Alexander's composter? Apparently more interesting than poor Silda's.

Louisville, KY

oooooh! no he didint.... I love Silda. She's amazing and he, .... is not.
((( at least she composts. You KNOW only good people compost.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Who is Ashley Alexander???

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

She knew the Gov. as client #9.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh - I only recognize her 'pro' name!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Victor - I'd have thought it would be more difficult to precisely dot the "i".

I have no idea who that person is either. Edited to say that now I know.

That's tough too - save the final drop for that.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Doing the afore mentioned scripting in snow is real class. If it freezes in place you can cut it out and save it in your deep freeze for special occasions. Upon close observation the dot over the "i" must be concave and not made by a frozen droplet which is considered cheating. There would be no way to determine if a frozen droplet was flinged into place or picked up anywhere else and placed there by hand. Rules are rules....we just have to have a few simple rules for any form of serious snow writing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No hands at all is my rule. Takes much practice.

Louisville, KY

wait, where the heck am I, Hooters? I thought we were just waxing eloquent on Japanese Morning Glories & Compost tea... now it's hookers and pee writing.

{;-D - yes she did.

Welcome to the NE Forum!

Louisville, KY

HA HA!!! i guess so. I see now this is the SPOT!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We referred to the SPOT a few posts back! (No hands.)

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

No no............the spot is a bloched effort above the "I" or when the cross on the "t" and the top of the "t" melt from a hot spot bouncing from the concave bottom of a beer can. Those are both spots due serious concern....not that this is the spot.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Warrants further science...

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Definately............now I think that issue is settled. As an aside "j " is just as hard to finish. :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And exclamation points too.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

How about question marks?
or colons & semi-colons?
% - that's got to be pretty tough!

please enlighten as to methodology...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am a new york stater and our gov. ( client #9)was relieved of his duties last month. Scandel over a hooker ,We were wondering who #'s 1 - 8 were, they must be mighty agitated.
I guess I miss a lot bu checking out early.
Snow writing !!! you guys have all the fun.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

#6 is one of the wealthiest men in England. They did give his name but it's not one I've ever heard before.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

serves me right for avoiding the -news catagories. I completely missed the list, it did give my friends some time to ponder what one would have to do for $1000.per hour.
I was so tired of the democrat catfight and the rest of the news is depressing.
Now that we have 60's today I'm out in the garden. YIPPEEE

Hey Jo Ann ~
I'd be out there too, but I'm cooler by about ten degrees, and it's raining.
Have fun!

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

The Western edge of the rain just passed over North Central Pennsylvania. Your summer and clear skys are not far away. Sun is out and temperature is nearing seventy.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

THANK YOU, doc!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

It's 9:30 PM, and a line of very heavy T-storms with strong winds just passed through!
Whew!! What a strong storm!!
And hey! It's still 53 degrees out there!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I just skipped around this thread - there are a lot of great stories! But I wanted to comment on docgipe's story regarding teaching.

My eldest daughter went to a licenced daycare run by the local Indian band. They asked all the parents to send old work socks (you know - the heavy grey kind grandmothers used to make stuffed monkey toys with).

Anyway, it was late fall, before the snow fell. These little kids, accompanied by their teachers, walked through the fields surrounding the daycare wearing these socks over their shoes. Later, the socks were cut into strips, and the grass and wildflower seeds that stuck to the socks were germinated! I received some rather nice native grasses and poppies :-)

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Interesting way to pick up the hitchiker seeds. Nature gave quite a group of seed hitchiker ability. Others can fly through the air with the greatest of ease.....dandelion, milk weed, maple wings and the tiny fungi spores that go poof.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not to mention begger's tick that never wants to let go!

They get up your nose and you sneeze and they head the other way :-)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

What a great sock story.
I'll have to try something similar with Morgan and Taelar this fall.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, I agree. Great sock story.

Let's not talk about dandelions... I have enough!

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

I do not see dandelions there...........I see five gallons of wine. ]:o)

WhooHoo!!

Ha ha ha ha! xx, Carrie

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

That's one way of seeing it doc! I love the yellow flowers and I don't mind them in the grass. When they show up in my flower beds is when I really get irritated. I've never had dandelion wine. I suppose I could find a recipie somewhere.
