I've just become excited about all the MG varieties. I think I was always prejudging them, assuming they were all invasive like the wild ones. Just goes to show you how much one can learn here at DG. Anyway, I have started some seeds ~ they're doing well, and I'm looking forward to some good looking flowers this summer. I would tend to think deer would really like the tender green leaves of the MG. Does anyone have any hands on experience with losing them to deer? I've had to force myself to not be too upset when I go out to the garden and see some favorite plant all chewed up and/or gone.
I did some internet searching, and found a very general consensus is that deer usually leave them alone, but DG experience is usually more believable somehow! Any comments?
Thanks,
Sanna
Are they deer resistant?
Maybe it's because of all the morning glories! :o)
The only plants that grow in my area that deer will not touch is Datura...
I have watched deer eat yew leaves which are relatively toxic, but generally the deer seem to find plants other than MG's to eat,but they will eat MG's unless there is enough of something else to keep them happy...
Predator urine works the best to keep deer away if you don't have the plants completely encaged including a deer-proof covering...
