I believe it's a Forester Moth, Alypia sp., not sure which one, they are beautiful!

Yes, it's one of the Forester Moths, but like fly_girl, I'm not sure which one. There are several, and a shot with the wings outstretched would help. Do you have another shot?

Unfortunately, no other pics. I never realized that having the wings outstretched would help in id. I'm really new to insects - don't know very much but think they are amazing and love seeing them. The forester moth surely looks like the moth that I have - thanks. Next time I'll know to take some different shots!

In this particular moth, there are several that look amazingly similar. Some have 8 spots and some have less. The underwing...(when the wings are spread, you can see the underwing) will give a better indication as to which one.
