Picotee edges in ipomoea leaves

Aschaffenburg, Germany

in either of the three types, i.e. nil, tricolor and purpurea has anybody had them?

And, has anybody seen picotee edges in the blooms of ipomoea tricolor or purpurea (in nils they do exist such as in Khokan, etc.) and could you please post a photo if you have?

Thanks.

Your question kind of threw me off (the subject says Picotee edges in Ipomoea Leaves) there are variegated leaves in several I. nils, but I guess I don't understand your question. Some have more variegation than others.

There are several flowers posted in the plantsdata base with picotee edges also.

Hi Gourd,

Sorry for the confusion I caused. I have had nils with a picotee edge in the bloom such as blue silk (it has some kind of a picotee edge), Khokan is another one, which I haven't grown myself that has a picotee edge. Several of the alleged ipomoea purpurea on my German seed packet show a picotee edge. However the picture shows ipomoea nils and tricolors and not purpureas..The seeds are definitely purpurea...so I need to grow them to know for sure if they have a picotee.

I have never seen a picotee edge in the leaves of the three types of ipomoea and was wondering if a picotee edge existed for the leaves...as a gene so to speak...

There are various genes that cause variegated leaves in Ipomoea nil,but not specifically a picotee edge on the leaves and neither variegated nor picotee leaves are generally known
to exist in either Ipomoea purpurea or Ipomoea tricolor...

So,now you have some better ideas for the Youjiro hybrids...

TTY,...
