Though I wasn't about to get frontal pix, I wanted to show you these turkeys I saw today when I went down to check on the geese. Only these two have this coloration, the others looking like wild turkeys usually look. Notice the different color pattern on the tails.
DAILY PICS VOL. 79
Marilyn, that is a "Finch Mix" in the feeder, only because I ran out of the usual mix I get for them since I did not expect them to still be here by this time. I have found one of their favorite foods is cracked sunflower hearts. Thanks Pelle, I was thrilled to get the Catbird shot since I have found them very elusive....... camera shy like me! Here is the first pic I got, not as good as the second.....then he dissappeared again.

When I get done picking my blueberries, I take off the tobacco netting and the catbirds go wild. I usually can get good pics then cause they're so busy being gluttonous.
Very nice pics bsharf!!
I especially love those White Ibis!
Hope they are eating those chinch bugs. :-)
Gardenpom,
Thanks for the info! What is your usual mix you mentioned for the Indigo Buntings? (besides using finch mix and/or cracked sunflower hearts)
Nanny,
Thanks for the info!
I appreciate both your info!
Marilyn
Do you think I could get a flock of ibises to eat my jb grubs?
Another great lot of pics!
Fancy seeing 14 white Ibis on your lawn, lol, talk about natural control. I see Thrushes and Blackbirds eating chafer grubs on mine, Starlings follow the Thrushes and try to steal them.
A very dull day today, but I got a poor pic through the window of the Great Spotted Woodpecker on the nuts. This has only lasted just over a day this time mixed with sunflower seeds, they will have to wait a day now for the last lot I have!
It was nearly dark when I heard a lot of birds chattering on the Horse Chestnut tree, I couldn't tell what they were as it was so dull as well as near nightfall they looked black. The group went to the top of a Sycamore tree on my roadside, there was another group circling over my garden. I upped the EV and managed a resonable shot, they are Goldfinches and all males! I wonder if the females were in the other group, if not where were they!
Maybe Resin can tell us about the movement of Goldfinches at this time of year.
This is only some of those on the tree, 21 I counted, there had to be 50-60 or more altogether.
Hi Frank!

are Goldfinches and all males!
Can't tell on these views - Goldfinch sexes are almost identical (the males have marginally more red in the face than females, but it is usually only determinable at very close range). As to movement, they are partial migrants, and will be on the move a bit at the moment.
A Chirping sparrow (?) and see the Song Sparrow?
Would agree with Chipping Sparrow. Can't see enough of the other bird to tell for sure!
Resin
Beautiful Steller adel!
Do you normally use the No Waste Mix?
Nice pics today everybody!
Pelle, I'm glad you were able to get a pic of the Waxwing...they are so beautiful!
Frank...sorry the GF have left but the Hummers will be there before you know it!
Thanks Resin.
Made me chuckle too, Nanny. Great shot, "no ifs, Ends, and Butts" about it!
GG, your shots of the sparrow's is really nice!
Oh Geeze Burn, I'm so sorry to see you still have so much snow!!!!!
Thanks Nanny. I'm still putting along with my point and shoot.
Nanny, that last post of yours is classic, I'm still chuckling about that one!
Great pictures folks.
More storm coming this week Mrs_Ed. I can't wait to see it all melt, and go awayyyyy Didn't see any Robins yet or Goldfinches. But I see some from Zone 5 are now getting them, so it give me hope, we'll see them soon..
I have bought no-waste mix, but not usually. I sometimes get whatever is a good buy at the time.
We had a big thunderstorm go thru last night so had to shut the puter down. Our yard is a lake from all the rain and I'm sure many of you east of us will be getting this wet storm.
Here is a pic I took the other day of the American Goldfinchs on a thistle sock. The front one is getting his color in an unusual way. I've also seen some with white instead of the yellow.
More rain and no sun again today so I may be sharing from the archives!!
