Does Double-yolker = Twins?

Lodi, United States

It would need to be very sweet, to cut down on mold formation:0)

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

Geez, I hope it wouldn't mold up during priority shipping!
Didn't think of that. Sugar inhibits mold?

Lodi, United States

A lot of sugar inhibits mold--why jam holds so well. I don't know that I would want to eat a sponge cake that had cushioned hatching eggs--but if I were to eat it, I wouldn't want it to be moldy:0)

Luther, MI(Zone 4b)

Is it foam? I have a form that sits in a foam base that looks very much like that.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

is there any dampness to it?

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

Yea! I have baby quail on the way, the coturnix shipped
today. 50 of them to add to my 3. If I'm going to hatch
eggs, I want them to come form my birds, and 3 males
is not going to cut it! LOL Yes, I took the shortcut on this
batch, but I want to get some in the freezer before it gets hot
-which was yesterday.
No dampness, and it's soft foam, Granny. Can you
post a picture of what you have? I got a reply from the
breeder, he says he gets it from a friend who doesn't
sell to the public, Drat. More like- 'he lifted it from work
as cast off or trash, and can't be depended on to get more'.
Just kidding, but I couldn't find the cylinder shape foam
stuff, but I did find something like it. It's called 'Pick and
Pack'. It's basically a sheet with perforated 1" squares you
pick out in the size and shape you want. Not really what
we would want for eggs. But, I did send them a picture,
and maybe they can tell what application it came from, or
make it? I am thinking the 1" foam squares might work
for chicken eggs, but i'm thinking round is the way to go.

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

Guess what? I found the exact shipping foam for the
eggs at this site http://www.redoakgamebirds.com
It looks like it's $2.40 for an 11x11 sheet, with the
dividers for the top and bottom. I am getting some!

Luther, MI(Zone 4b)

Joni, the foam I have is a foam bed for a prothesis. I think it is just thick foam rubber. If it is, you can get it an any upholstery shop. But I see you have found the exact same thing already.

That would be just the thing to ship eggs in. Maybe more breeders would use it if it became known that there is less egg loss using it.

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

I think any kind of foam nest with separation of the eggs
and foam all around is a good way to go. I like this stuff
though, already cut and fits so well.

Luther, MI(Zone 4b)

You know, I remember when we had a gas dryer with an electronic start when they first came out. We moved the dryer and the start was so sensitive that it went out when we did that. They shipped the part in a 5 x 5 inch foam bed so I guess, like you say, any foam bed with foam packed around it would work very well.

BTW, The electronic element was about the size of your index finger.

Oh my goodness, talk about sensitive! That would have
just put the icing on my day. Looky looky! I have new
quail babies!

Molly, from "Special ALT Characters" from Ted's HTML Tutorial. Someone posted the site on here some time ago and I decided to check it out. It is interesting.

I just wish I could put the Pogo emoticons on here. They are really cute.

Columbia, TN(Zone 7b)

I found his tutorial but can't find out what he calls them to locate the area where he talks about them. I tried icons but that led me to his collection of animations. There are now over a dozen different pages by him!

Did you try emoticons?

Luther, MI(Zone 4b)

They are "Special ALT Characters". That is the page you are looking for. Good luck.

Oh, Lordy, what have I started???

GG

Truest, can you hook up a keyboard to your laptop? I think if you could, you would have the keypad you need to get the special alt characters. But, if you go to Ted's he also has a HTML page that shows the sequence of characters you use to get the emoticons. Unfortunately I don't know how to use them.

Hahaha! I just asked DH about that, and we can!
I wasn't sure if it would be ok, as this is his 'work'
laptop- actually will put me out of the way! yea! Thanks
Granny!

Luther, MI(Zone 4b)

You're very welcome. I know I use a separate mouse for my laptop, so I thought you could probably use a keyboard.

Good Luck
