I just received a trade with Dietes seeds in it. Some of the seeds in each pack had what looked like cinnamon sprinkled on them and a few seeds were stuck together with this. After further inspection and a bit of prodding I saw white stuff and squished several seeds and they did squish-it was nasty-LOL I also noticed that these packets also had a few tiny holes where something had eaten through and finally I saw a white wormy looking nasty thing which I squished as well, sorry-no photo-it was nasty so I squished it. :oP

Any idea what this is....should I trash all the seed or can some be saved? Please let me know soon cuz it gives me the creeps having these on my desk-

Thanks

May Princess Kathy NEVER have bugs!!

Are these lilies? Could it be the infamous lily beetle?

They are

an Iris.
Would they still get the Lily Beetle?

No bugs for Princess Kathy :oP

I did a quick search and there was a reference to them and there was a reference to them as having been called "Fortnight Lilies". That's what had me thinking about the lily beetle.

If I were to speculate, I'd say "yes" in answer to your question, but I really don't know because we haven't seen the lily beetle out here yet.

This article says they feed on other kinds of plants, but I didn't see iris.
