Go to eplantauction....I just saw a flower there that looks just like yours. They call it
Dietes Iridoides-also known as the African Iris

I dont know much about iris, but I just saw that one on the auction site, and remembered seeing yours. Hope this helps.

I HAVE ONE THAT LOOKS SIMILAR~I think if it is the same it might be a Butterfly Iris, or, 'dietes vegata'. i may be incorrect but the similarity is very close...

Iit is an irid, belonging to Iridaceae, but not an iris, belonging to the Iris genus. What's been said is a good guess, but it might be another. I'm just not up on irids that aren't hardy where I am. People in the iris forum or Plant ID will know.

Mine was labelled 'frans hal' Dutch Blubs...I dunno near enuf bout Iris' just had to have it when I ser her, lol

Iris are of the genus Iris. Included are ones like:
Iris sibirica - Siberian Iris
Iris x hollandica - Dutch Iris
Iris ensata Japanese Iris
Iris fulva - a Louisiana Iris
Iris x germanica - Bearded hybrid iris
Iris cristata - Crested Iris
etc.

Note the botanical name always begins with "Iris".
They are only one group of many that are Irids.

An Irid is any plant belonging to the Iridaceae family. This family is a much larger group of related plants that include such plants as iris, gladiolus, Blackberry and Candy lilies(not true lilyies), Blue-eyed grass, plus lots more.

So Iris, is a subgroup, of Irids. Including Just some of the Varieties of Lilies? Or all?Think I got it. THANKS, I LOVE Daves G. I never stop learnng!!!!

You've got it. Thanks to misuse of common names, there are many, many species that are called "lilies" that are not at all closely related, and so could not all be within the family Iridaceae. Even the true lilies, of the genus Lilium, are not irids. (Tiger lilies and Easter lilies are among the true lilies.) Only some of the other species that are called lilies are irids. Here lists all the genera (plural of genus) that make up the Iridaceae family. http://plants.usda.gov/java/ClassificationServlet?source=display&classid=Iridaceae
