Sounds like it may be an Immature Male Orchard...the female doesn't have the black patch.

Oriole Feeder Questions
Possibly, but it really seemed to be a female. I don't know how to describe it, but the females have a distinct body and head type, compared to the males. Also, its color was decidedly yellow, rather than the rusty orange of the orchards. Wish I could have gotten my camera out before it was gone.
Wish I could have been more helpful Jeff...hopefully someone else can help. I can get easily confused with the two different Orioles we have around right now!
Is anyone "in town" getting these Baltimore Orioles? I SWEAR I heard and saw an orange flicker this morning. I put out oranges.
