Couldn't find it in the plant files as a seedling...
Thanks.
Is this Ipomoea turbinata?
Hi Martin - Please show a top view of the cotyledons of the plant, but from what I can see the plant in the photo does not look like an Ipomoea turbinata...
The cotyledons of Ipomoea turbinata are similar to the
Ipomoea alba

The plant you are showing has cotyledons that look more like a type of
Convolvulus

or possibly a type of
Jacquemontia

Martin - The cotyledons in the photo you posted do not look like any type of MG that I am familiar with...
Try trimming the portion of the cardboard that is extending upwards beyond the surface of the growing medium because that vertical extension can definitely act as a moisture wick and cause the area to loose moisture more rapidly than if the cardboard was flush with the surface of the medium...

I have removed those toilet rolls almost completely now as they are not so ideal as I thought in the beginning. Also, I get the feeling that ipomoeas do not like to be transplanted a lot. Some plants like tomatoes don't mind being transplanted, on the contrary, the more often you thin them out and transplant them, the better they grow. I know some people sprout their seeds in zipbags and transfer them later on, I am not sure this is the very best method because the root system is somewhat delicate, so I am glad I can now sow directly outside.
I am gonna check with Emma, it was definitely one of her seeds. I didn't buy anything except MGs unless it was a gift seed of some other type and I threw it in just to see...
