Hattie Bell MG

Thomasville, GA(Zone 8a)

In one of the threads the name of a MG called Hattie Bell was mentioned. That was the name of my Cherooke Grandmother and I would love to have some seeds or cuttings of it. If anyone has one I would love to do postage or trade something that I have. Elaine

OhioBreezy has some Hattie Belle seeds on her trade list.

I hate to promise you some, in case I don't have any left. But, I'll go check. The problem with mine is that I grew them mixed with one that is blue and wasn't able to separate the seeds. If you don't mind have two types, I'll go check to see what is left.

I Dmailed you about some, maybe you didn't see it. I have a few you can have...

Thank you for the offers. I would love to have some and I will look to see what I have to trade. Things are just now starting to bloom and of course others haven't. I do have unnamed day lillies, blue walking iris, queen's tears, later I will have night blooming jasmine and single ragoon creeper. Gourd, I would not care if they are mixed I would take them. My Mother is 91 and in an assisted living facility and I told her today that there is a MG that has Grandmother's name. She asked if I could find a picture of it. I will look for one to show her. Again thanks for your kindness. Elaine

Thank you and I will copy it and show it to Mom. I have never grown MG's so I guess this will be my start. I will read some of the back threads and get some knowledge of how they grow. Elaine

Kamikid, you can save some time by clicking on "Tagged Pages" in the column to the right on this web page. There are some good places to start in there for learning about morning glories. I'm working on some ideas for organizing tagable items so it's easier to go directly to any given subject having to do with morning glories.

Evidently there's a couple of us on this forum who have Cherokee grandmothers, although mine is many generations back - perhaps around the time of the Trail of Tears. Very little has come down through the generations about her. Seems like an interesting coincidence. Don't you wish you could be a fly on a wall in some imaginary place/time when your ancestors got to meet each other?

I'll be back to the forum in another day or so - would be very interested to hear what anyone might have to say.

Made me think of my Aunt Hattie!! (Her real name was Helen, but she always went by Hattie.) Warmed my heart ~ she's been gone many years.

I have Cherokee ancestors, too. There were "Robertsons" from Scotland on my fathers side, and they intermarried with the Cherokee.

Let me know if you got some already

... the electrician is here today and i cannot get into my sewing room where the seeds are, but I'll check when he leaves.

This was one of the first MGs I grew years ago. I still like it too.
