Hi Gang,
Does anyone have a recommendation on where I can take my tools to be sharpened? Or is this something I can do myself? Some of them have gotten quite dull and I'm not really good about cleaning them as I should.
Thanks, Christina
PS: I'm posting my favorite picture of my garden so far. It has nothing to do with garden tools, but thought I'd share.
Garden Tool Sharpening - San Diego
Hi Christina,
Beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing. I don't have a reference for sharpening your tools, but DH says there are lots of places in San Diego that will do that. Try looking in the yellow pages for saw sharpening. One place I found was: Overnite Saw Svc. 619-295-6406, at 2180 San Diego Ave, San Diego, CA 92110. You could try calling them. If they won't, they can probably tell you who does. Good luck!
I would think any lawn mower repair shop would be able to do it for you. I take mine to one and they usually do it while I wait.
They sharpen lawn mower blades at these places, so they should do other tools as well.
We have an old fashioned Ace Hardware in Youngtown that has a shop in the back staffed by older "handymen" where I take my garden tools to be sharpened. They will also put new handles or shims ( which you buy there) on tools, etc. Very reasonable and done well. Not sure if all Ace Hardwares have the same set up.
Harold, how much does Ace charge you? There is one by my house...
My guy charges the same as Harold's does...I've never pd. more than 5 bucks per tool. Definitely worth it if they were good tools to begin with.
That's great! I'll definitely check on that.
Thanks for the great advice, good to know! :)
