This picture was taken in August 16, 1959 in Rember, S.C. My dad was stationed at Shaw AFB. He had a passion for gardens and this was his first chicken coop he built. When I see Morning Glories anywhere, I always remember the little chicken coop.

Morning Glories shown growing in 1959
That photo is just too cute! What a classic chicken coup! Love those MGs gracing the fence! Thanks for sharing that neat photo, Pam! :-)
Hello Pam, what a neat old photo!! Such nostalgia one doesn't see too often anymore!!! ♥ It!!
Great memories! I wish I had photos of the morning glory caves we used to play under as kids.
What a great photo.. are those Wedding Bells? I've never grown wedding bells, but I wonder if that is what those are?
Thanks for all the nice comments. I don't know what kind of Morning Glorys they are. Wedding Bells sounds so pretty.
Wow! A morning glory cave? That would be so neat.
The neighbors in this picture was an old cotton gin. So I guess they didn't mind.
It looks more like Heavenly Blue to me. Wedding Bells are more pink. I've grown both. Either way, they are lovely.
That is so neat! Most likely, they are heavenly blues, since Wedding bells weren't going to be available until 1963. I would love a morning glory cave! How cool would that be to sit in there and meditate????
Kathy
Oh they are so pretty, I think I need to grow some of each.

So that fact that as an adult I enjoy sitting beneath my trellis when the Passi's have covered it isn't such a bad thing eh?
Chanell-
NOT at all! LOL I think we all need a place to "hide" when lifes demands get to be too much. I'm hatching a plan for my cave at this moment.
Kathy
Ohhh a cave...hmmm now THERE'S an idea!! R & R if only but a moment is a very GOOD thing!!!
The vacant lot where I used to play was about an acre of overgrown morning glory splendor with at least 3 caves that I can remember. It was a magnet for local kids.
A WHOLE ACRE of morning glories! WOW! That would have been one beautiful sight. I can see a child's fantasies taking flight. Lovely time it must have been.
Color heaven!!
What a cool pic! Thanks for sharing!
flowerhead410,
You're so welcome. I see you are from NH. My father spent his last 23 years in Nashua. He retired from Hanscom Field in Mass. He no longer kept chickens, but he did maintain a small garden with BIG vegetables every summer.
Pam
Hi Pam,
We are about an hour from Nashua. It is a small world isn't it? Nashua is ever expanding with many Boston transplants, but it is the same in many places all over. We live closer to Keene (the Vermont side of the state). I have two brothers that live in Lake worth,FL..-Kath
