This is great! My son lives in New Holland and is frequently at the Shady Maple. SInce it is rare that I get down to visit him, this would be a terrific excuse to see him and meet some fellow DG-ers! Plus I never turn down a chance to buy more plants!
Trip planning to Lancaster County Nurseries
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Great meet, start up and go plan. I'm an 'ole Pennsylvania Billy Goat crossed with a River Rat. I can't get there without going two or three other places first. I will have no trouble zigging and zagging my way down South and East to East Earl.
Ah Doc, That olde River Rat. My kids grew up down on the river. We live about 5 miles (as the crow flies) from the Susquehanna. My son Josh has a summer place on one of the islands in the river and my 4yr old GS (his nephew) already knows how to catch crayfish and can easily scamper around on the dock or boat. Sounds like we should have a very nice group. This time I will recognize you at the nursery, not like the last time when I didn't even know anyone else was there.
I learned to eat crayfish done up just like shrimp when in Boy Scout camp. Our grandchildren love to catch a few and bend my arm to fix mountain or river run shrimp. If we have enough they fill whatever fish we may also have rounded up.
Hopefully the weather and I will both be somewhat better for this trip. I did get a little better oxygen support promised for this trip. I was being skimpy with the oxygen to get that last long day in on the tanks I had with me.
I've had a rough few days with my Asthma and quite often wonder if one day I will be packing just like you. For now it is usually controlled and hasn't affected what I do too much.My DIL makes a great Crayfish etouffee.
I didn't read the whole thread - but Shady Maple is the best, and we have gone to Lancaster just to eat before!!
