Hi Guys,

Please, can you continue your chat on one of Jim's threads? This is the one thread that we are trying to keep clear of chatter to monitor for new events.

Thanks,

Susybell, who does a lot of the calendar event data entry.....

Hughes Water Garden in Tualatin is having its annual festival. We went last night. It was lovely! They are staying open late so you can see the water lilies in bloom. They have music and food and a wonderful assortment of water features on display. Even my husband loved it. I believe it ends August 3.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks! I've added it to our calendar (Wish I'd known about last night, though-sounds wonderful!)

Chimacum, WA

I could not get an address for the Tri-Area-Garden club plant sale this coming Saturday - from the calender. I clicked on it and got a page that said it was unavailable.
It is at the Tri area senior center in Chimacum, Wa.
I do not have he exact address.
How do you put it with the calender so people know where it will be? Would you do that please?

Thanks.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

It looks like the link is bad. Maybe the Garden Sale people changed it. The other links are working okay. Have you tried Googling it?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I looked at the url and it appears that there's an extra letter in the address. It should be www . gardencentral . org / wa / triareagardenclub /

Here's the link:

Hello,
I've attended the Sequim & Port Angeles. WA garden tours annually. Lots of GREAT IDEAS to be shared...

2009 Home Garden Tour

The 2009 Home Garden Tour, Petals & Pathways, is scheduled for June 27, 2009, running from 10:00 am until 4:00 p.m.

This year's self-guided tour will take you to seven great gardens in the Sequim Area. The tickets, which will go on sale in May, will cost $15 per ticket when purchased prior to the 27th and $20 the day of the tour. More information will be available soon."

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

I've added it to the calendar. Thanks for the info!

Renton, WA

found this looking for a bug that I don't know ....
(not sure if this is what you might want on this calendar)

BugGuide Gathering 2009 (Northwest by Starlight)
This year's gathering is going to be Jul 10-12 in Washington State. There's a 90% chance at this point (Mar 23) that the site will be at the Center for Sustainable Forestry at Pack Forest run by the University of Washington. We would gather on Friday afternoon at the center. Have dinner there. Stay Friday and Saturday nights, and have our last meal together as lunch on Sunday. The approximate cost is going to be $75-100 per person per day for lodgings with meals included. They do have a limited number of private rooms which are slightly more expensive.

Langley Fine Gardens:

These guys start lots of different seedlings - I got an heirloom zinnia from them last year that I loved and also found Tweedia caerulea starts from them and they weren't anywhere else in the U.S. Primarily they grow vegetables. They are having a vegetable growing class on Vashon this weekend (March 28). Later in the summer is a farm tour (August 1). They are also regularly at local farmer's markets.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the info dirt and Kathy I have put the events on the calendar :0)

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Well drat, something happening in my neck of the woods and I don't see it until it is all over! I don't suppose I needed the veggie growing class, but I might have gone on their greenhouse tour. I really should take the Beachcomber, our local paper, so I know what is going on.

I will plan to go on the Langley Farm Tour in August, and anyone coming over to Vashon is certainly welcome to visit my place if they wish after their tour. I'm not too far off Dockton Road, and maybe you would like to go out to Point Robinson Beach ( on past my house).

I usually get my tomato plants from Pacific Potager, which is on the southern end of the island and is marked on that VIGA map in the link above.

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

My DH picked up the Beachcomber today, and ,,,lo and behold....Langley Fine Gardens is having another nursery tour and plant sale from noon to 4 this Saturday, April 4th, and offering the free vegetable growing class at noon also.
I have been pretty sick the last 2 days, so don't know that I will be going unless I bundle up with a scarf, stock my pockets with throat lozenges, take an umbrella and stay only a few minutes. :>(

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

For anyone who might just come out to Vashon this weekend, there is also a 25% off sale at Colvos Creek Nursery.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the info Holly. Hope that you feel better soon.

Have never been to this so can't give a personal testimonial, but a sale is being held as the Highline SeaTac Botanical Gardens on May 2nd. Found out through the Puget Sound Daylily Society, but also has a lot of other co-sponsors (iris, roses, fuschias, etc). Might be worth checking out.
